Headlights don't come on automatically

Its cold this morning so maybe that has something to do with this problem: When I turned the car on, the headlights did not turn on as they always have and there is a continual beeping tone as if a door is opened. The beeping comes on when the car is put into gear. Otherwise, it doesn't make a sound.

One way to turn off the automatic headlights when the ignition is to apply the parking brake. That dinging sound you hear when you shift into drive is also common with the parking brake applied.

Release the parking brake.

Low voltage will cause the problem you are having, get the battery charged, and then have the alternator checked for the correct out put,13.65 to 14.25 if it is not in this range give or take a couple of volts, replace it,I would have the battery replaced also,so you won`t have the problem again.Have a shop replace the battery,if you do it yourself, the memory could be erased if certain measures are not performed.

SOURCE: 2005 Chevy Equinox P0742 & P0700 problems. My

2005 Equinox's are known for water leakage problems around the cowl and windshield areas. Water leaks in and causes shorts in the main wiring harness and eventual corrosion between the fuse panel's grounding to the floor under the shifter console. Reroute a new ground wire to the body from the fuse panel in the shift console. Find the source of water leak. GM paid to have mine fixed.

Why will the headlights not turn off when ignition is turned off?

I will fill in the blanks....you must have a newer car with auto head lights....there is a setting on the headlight switch that lets you over ride the "automatic" headlight mode....maybe you or someone accidently turned it to the manual "on" position...if so turn it back to the "auto" setting......2nd....new cars do have a delay before the headlights go out after parking your car. And if you read your manual, you would see that the time they stay on after turning your ignition key off can be set to several different time settings, including to switch off as soon as you turn the key off.
But if you had accidently turned the light switch to the "on" setting.... fear not....the headlights will automatically go off after the battery is dead....lol....actually they should go off within 2-3 minutes of turning the key off...unless you have an open door or trunk...or engine hood...or maybe even a gas cap door...and your car is telling you "something's open" by the lights staying on....Take that Jim and see if it gets you anywhere.

I have a c200 cdi mercedes from 2006 (w203 model). in cold mornings (0-2 C) don't want to start. everything works, lights are on, dash is on but engine don't start. i have replaced the battery

Hi
It sounds to me like it could be a glow plug fault !
The glow plugs heat the diesel before it combusts. An easy way to diagnose this is check your exhaust after cranking on a cold morning if you have thick white smoke then you've probably got a glow plug down on 1 of your cylinders or maybe more
Hope this helps Nick

I have a 2003 Infiniti m45 and every time I turn the headlights on the dashboard lights gets dim what's the problem?

There is nothign wrong with your car-when you turn on the headlights the car believes you are turnung them on because it is dark outside, so it automatically dims your dashboard lights for you (since it now thinks it's nighttime). Your car already has daytime running lights, so you don't need to turn your headlights on in the daytime-they come on automatically when the car is running. You can keep your dash lights dim or bright by adjusting the small black dial on the left side of the dashboard, whether headlights are on or off if you want to.

Car makes a click click but won't turn over..It has been cold

If battery is flat (discharged) that could be one of the problems. Charge the battery or try jump starting from another vehicle, if possible. If it still don't start after trying those two things, it's probably the starter gone bad.
If it starts after charging or jumping, have your battery load tested and
your alternators output checked. Make sure you didn't leave something on for example headlights or something plugged into accessory outlet, could be the reason battery went flat.
In a nut shell, one of these caused this. Bad battery, bad alternator, bad starter or something draiedn battery. Hope this helps.

I have a 1996 Jeep Cherokee. Headlight Problem: Year ago? Switched on high beams, complete darkness (low beams don't work at the same time I've come to find out). Solution: Don't turn on...

ok, first ,, check all the bulbs again, and *** make sure that your hands never touch the actual bulb, these lights will turn the oils from your hands into cooking grease when it comes to these bulbs and cause them to blow out much to early on in their life span, , next,, Pull the light switch ( high beam switch towards you for a quick flash of the head light high beams,, if this doesn't make the high beams come on, your problem is going to be in the switch itself ( what your calling the high beam/turn signal lever) before going to that extreme though,, if you have a junk yard near you, go pull one of the relays off a junked vehicle, and stab it into your system one at a time, it could be something as simple as a relay heating up and disconnecting prematurely due to heat ,, if you don't have a junk yard that you can grab a relay,, here is a link that shows how to check them, But its time consuming http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8t25GjZ6i4&NR=1

Head lights will not turn on, fuel guage missing, radio turns off

This is an old post so I don;t even know if you still have the car, but here is what I know.

1) Your radio issue is probably a relay. It is a relay bank located above your glove box. The entire glove box assembly will have to come out. This relay is a little different in appearnace thatn the others as it is skinnier and taller. It is called the Brand Name speakers/radio relay.

2) Your dash readouts are due to a burned out bulb. These are not LED. They are regular 124 bulbs. They've burned out. Banging on the dash probably allowed the filament of in the bulb to touch and temporarily worked.

3) I have a similar problem with the headlights. My headlights turn on manually, but they don't turn on like they are supposed to via automatic photo sensor. When turned on manually, the doors open and the headlights are on. When I manually turn off the headlights, the doors don't close. I've checked everything and I was told it may have something to do with the Body Control Module. I am not completely sure as this research is ongoing.
