You obviously have a short to ground on one of the wires to the back (if it was the front the brake shouldn't blow the fuse). the most common problem is usually in a trailer light harness. if you look under the drivers side rear of the truck, down under the tail light there will be a plugin junction. pull this plug-in apart and see if the fuse still blows. if it does then the problem is forward of that connector, if it doesn't then the problem is behind that plugin. be sure to check for "green death" (electrical corrosion) at all joints especially any trailer hook ups.

check the wiring from the tailights back to the fuse panel, it sounds like an open connection. if i recall correctly check under the dash on the drivers side near the fuse panel for a bunch of wires in a bundle and look carefully for a wire or two that are cut/shorted/or seperated, you can also check under the drivers side kick panel by the hood release.

Follow the wire harness down to the junction box were the wire harness plugs into under the truck adn ck for corrosion especialy if you live in a snowy area corrosion due to road salt.

Just a thought but you may want to look at your multifunction lever. The brake lights have a contact in there and it may be bad. Not uncommon so I have been told. I replaced mine but be warned the multifunction lever will set you back almost $200
