On vehicles equipped with antilock brakes (ABS), a second warning light is provided to warn if a problem occurs within the ABS system. The ABS lamp comes on when the ignition is turned on for a bulb check, then goes out after the engine starts. If the ABS warning light remains on or comes on while driving, it indicates a fault has occurred in the ABS system.
What happens next depends on the nature of the fault. On most applications, the ABS system disables itself if the ABS warning light comes on and remains on.

All questions in this category need 'year make model'. This is what Lexus say! You need to get the vehicle on a scan tool to diagnose the fault.
If both the ABS and the brake system light come on at the same time, your vehicle is no longer safe to drive. This means there is a serious problem with the car's braking system and continuing to drive puts yourself and others at risk.
The reason the system "growls" until the light comes on is that when the light is on, the system has determined there is a problem and disabled the system. The "growling" is the pump running. You can get a scanner that is able to access and scan the ABS module. This will give you a place to start.
Whenever the ABS light remains on it means that the control module of the system has detected a problem in one of the systems components and it has turned off the ABS brake control, what you must do now is have the system system scanned for fault codes with a special tool.
Well, it could mean that the emergency brake has not been fully released. The ABS system light is on if something has occurred within the ABS system. Something faulty may have happened there, get it checked out!
the abs light on means your car has the obd2 code problem, you need a scan tool to diagnose out the code and then delete it, turn off the light, I know this tool can help you, or you can take your car to the local dealer to check out it.
Check the wheel sensors that detects the RPM to the mother board. if there are faults in the connection, faulty sensor , dirty or loss of wiring then it is possible that the ABS will indicate.
Also a failure of the main unit of the ABS can be a reason.
Hello: That is TRUE. If the ABS light remains illuminated it means you have a problem in the ABS system. You will have to have the system diagnosed with a scanner to tell you what is the problem.
it could mean that your abs pump is going out, or abs sensor is faulty. It could mean nothing. I know on my 2001 bmw 325i it does the same thing and ive seen time and time again people asking why and it just does it for no reason. EVEN BMW CANNOT FIGURE THIS ONE OUT. Get it tested anyways to make sure, cause when your brakes go out cause of the ABS pump, you will know it.........
the triangle is a severe caution and the abs has to do with your anti lock braking system. what this means is not that your brakes will not work but the system that prevents the brakes from locking when applied heavy is deactivated. so basically you will be brakeing like a car with no abs. this should be looked at soon just for safety reasons if you are depending on the abs but does not mean you can not not drive the car safely just with added caution. this should also be addressed by someone who KNOWS bmws and KNOWS abs systems. this could work out to be a very simple fix. cheers
