SOURCE: 2001 Toyota Celica - check engine light is on and

Start the car in a DARK place and open the hood. Look for sparks jumping from the plug wires. If you see ANY sparking, replace the WIRES.Have it put on a code checker.

SOURCE: check engine light on-code says egr valve is bad

How to clean, the first step, check this procedure:

  1. Park your Toyota in a safe place with enough room for you to work around the front of the vehicle.
  2. Open the hood and make sure the engine or engine components are cool enough to the touch to avoid skin burns or other injuries.
  3. Locate the EGR valve on the engine side, usually on the driver's side. Most valves resemble a metallic mushroom and are about 2 to 3 inches in diameter. Unplug the vacuum hose by hand from the top of the valve.
  4. Remove the pipe connecting to the bottom of the valve using a wrench or adjustable wrench. Remove the two valve mounting bolts using a wrench or ratchet and socket.
  5. Lift the valve away from the engine compartment and discard the EGR valve gasket. If necessary, use a plastic scraper to remove any gasket material remaining on the mating surfaces of the valve and engine.
  6. Clean the bottom of the valve and inlet orifice of carbon deposits using a wire brush and scratch awl or similar tool. Be careful not to score or damage the valve-mounting surface to avoid exhaust gas leaks. Tap the valve body to remove loose carbon deposits. If the EGR valve on your Toyota model can be disassembled, make sure to align the parts perfectly when reassembling. Clean the passage of the exhaust manifold pipe connecting to the valve as well.
  7. Set the cleaned valve in place on the engine using a new valve gasket and install the two mounting bolts by hand. Start the exhaust pipe nut into the valve by hand to avoid thread damage. Tighten the mounting bolts and pipe nut. Connect the vacuum hose to the top of the valve.

Good morning. I have a Toyota Yaris 2.001. The car is accelerating by itself. The engine service light came on. The scanner shows code P1349 it refers to Valve Timing Assembly. I´m planning on...

Don't go replacing anything until you have had a Toyota tech check the car and determine the cause or causes of the fault code. It may well also be throwing other fault codes that need attention that will show up on Toyota diagnostic equipment that you have absolutely no idea about.

If the car is accelerating dangerously due to a fault, most likely in an electrical component(s), you do not want to be trying "do it yourself" fixes when you do not really understand what is happening, the exact cause and the correct fix or fixes for the problem.

1,3,5,7 cylinder miss fire

Bank1 failure.

my guess, those DTCs off a cheap scan tool>? why not post source and real codes, no lie P0301 is real. but off what?

real engine: Name.

4.7 L 2UZ-FE V8

VVT-i variant??? got VVT? IF ONE SIDE FAILS, misfire there. if cam retarded. if bad, can be 14deg retarded, (huge)

see cam action here.

http://www.mr2.com/files/mr2/techinfo/Random%20FSM%20Data/2uz-History.pdf

2003 Tundra.

if using a full real scan tool that sees all toyota extended DTCs , you might see VVT errors, $20 tools and lame autozoned , blind .

there are 4 sensors there, id bet there are codes you missed!

P0301,3,5, and 7, DTC, ONLY?

bad coil packs? no.

thats the whole left bank, bad.

RF 2-4-6-8

LF 1-3-5-7

so, VVT bad on left bank or coil pack ,

yours has 8 COP coils, so its not 4 bad COPS.

a real mech sees all this in 1 second , online, impossible

nor country. sold.\'

could the timing belt slip only on one side

did you do timing belt service, on time, if not, bingo.

misfire is

bad compression (vvt?)

bad spark , no, not all 4

bad fueling, but there is only 1 maf/map, and one full injection rate there so not fuel mix.related.

here is a tool (most AZ stores clueless)

that reads the enhanced DTC of Toyotas

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001QIUGVI/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1#productDetails

using a 1996 tool , misses the boat.

but id bet your VVT is bad. left bank.

the real tool might help. here.
