Service Engine Soon light on 2002 BMW X5

I have a 2002 BMW X5. Took it in for oil change and fluids check etc approx. 2 weeks ago.

Service Engine Soon light just came on but I just had it serviced so I am assuming the two are related. How do I reset the service engine soon so the light on my dash board goes off? Does an oil change effect the Service Engine Soon light?

The turn signal lights won't flash inside when on and the seat belt light stays on. The turn signal lights work on outside but not inside on dash. Is the body control module going out?

You have to have the light cleared with a diagnostic machine if the problem is still there after that then it probably means that you changed the oil but you need a whole tune-up spark plugs wired ect.

Reset the service engine indicator on a 2002 bmw x5

1. Key in 0 or off position.

2. Press and hold odometer button and turn key to 1 or acc. position.

3. Keep button pressed until any of the following words appear in display: "oil service" or "inspection", with "reset" or "re". For vehicles with "high cluster", the fuel amount remaining until next service is displayed.

4. Press and hold button again until "reset" or "re" flash. If there is no "flash", minimum consumption value has not been met.

5. While display is flashing, press button briefly to reset service interval indicator. After display has shown new interval, the following will appear in display for approx. 2 seconds:"END SIA"

Engine light is on.

Your vehicle’s computer system has self-testing capability. When the computer senses that there is a problem with some of the components it stores the correspondent trouble code(s) in its memory and lights up the Check Engine or Service Engine Soon lights to tell you that there is a problem and you should have the car diagnosed and repaired. Not fluid related, but could be a small problem that's easy to fix now. Even a loose gas cap can turn the light on. Have a code scan, that's the starting point.
