What exactly was the code? If you were to tell us, we could assist you better. The light comes on for a variety of reasons.

My truck won't start and run. Have checked many of my parts. They all check out as good.

My '06 Corolla's CHECK ENGINE light came on the other day and then went out after about a half hour. It was back on this morning and stayed on, and I noticed that the automatic transmission was shifting a bit more roughly than it ever had before. Took the car to a Toyota dealership immediately. The guy told me that Toyota has had an ongoing problem with the CHECK ENGINE light coming on due to a faulty CPU (car's computer "brain"). This has been affecting models from '05, '06, and '07 according to him. He said Toyota had extended the warranty for this particular part (i.e. the CPU) due to it being faulty. The warranty expires once you reach 80,000 miles, and my car has 87,000 miles on it (yes, I do drive that much for my job!). But the guy at the dealership was kind enough to put in a new CPU for free because I have been a good, loyal customer there. The CHECK ENGINE light is now off and it should stay that way.

Evap emission system

Have same problem with my 2002 Silverado. Changed purge valve. Still no luck. There is a fitting for forcing smoke into fuel system to find leaks. I checked out a friends Trailblazer (same code) Someone stole his gas cap. Bad gas cap can also cause this code. You can ignore this code. It does not have any effect on engine performance, but if you have to pass emision test must be repaired

Need to know what PO440, PO441, and PO446 codes mean for a 2000 Toyota Camry

p0440 is the evaporative emission control system p0441 is incorrect evap purge flow and p0446 is evap vent control circuit this means the charcaol canister is defective the only problem is they are in the rear of the car above the gas tank and they are metal when you gas up your car there are warning signs DO NOT TOP OFF TANK meaning when gas pump shuts off do not put in more gas ! reason being is the gas overflows into the metal canister and gets trapped and absorbs moisture , and you know what water does to metal .... rust ! no signal to solenoid = check engine light and codes sorry to say you are looking at about 600-700 dollars to fix

2002 Buick Century, when the tank is 1/4 full,

P0446 Evaporative Emission Control System Vent Control Circuit Malfunction

The evaporative emission control system checks to make sure there are no leaks in the lines that run from the gas tank to the charcoal canister and up to the engine. It also checks to make sure the gas cap is sealing correctly.
It may just be that the cap was not on tight and the code was tripped.

A dusty environment can also clog the vent line and cause this code.
Have the code cleared and see if it comes back. Some auto parts stores like Auto Zone can read and clear the codes for you.
Hope this helps.

Check engine light on on our 2000 toyota camry

If it was on for the gas cap the light will go out after about 5 days. Other wise have a part store read and clear your codes. (autozone)

2003 toyota highlander OBD code's po442/po446/po441

if the air filter was recently inspected or changed, look for the vacuum hose to be disconnected from the valve located on the air filter cover. another source may be the gas cap either loose or with the tether strap caught under it preventing a proper seal

I got a problem with my toyota camry 1998

More often than not, the Vacuum Switching Valve for the EVAP has failed. This is assuming that alll of the vacuum lines are good, and there is no damage or cracks in any of the moulded plastic connectors under the tank. You need to go to a Toyota dealer & purchase the Evap VSV, part number 90910-12264; expect to pay about 50 dollars for the switch. You can't buy this switch at an auto retailer such as AutoZone; it's a dealer item only. Hope this helps, and the graciousness of a "FixYa" would be much appreciated. Thnaks for choosing FixYa!
