Do you get sparks on each spark plug boot when you crank it up?

  • Anonymous Oct 27, 2012

CHECHED COIL PACKS ALL OK INSTALLED NEW PLUGS, REPLACE ALL TIMING ITEMS CHAIN TENSONERS ECT , WHEN UN PLUGING COIL PACK CONNECTION ON CYL 2,4,6 ONE AT A TIME ENGINE WILL RUN BUT ROUGH, UNPLUG COIL PACK WIRE ON CYL 1,3,5 ONE AT A TIME AND REPLACE WIRE ONE AT A TIME ENGINE DIES DOWN. ALL OTHER COIL PACKS WERE CONECTED #1 WAS NOT. THATS THE PROBLEM PASSENGER SIDE OF ENGING NOT RESPONDING TO SPARK OR FUEL.

SOURCE: Problem with fireing order on suzuki 1.3 w/coils pack

cannot be specific, had a 98 (now a 99). remember they fire twice- compression and exhaust. if you don't get and answer soon, look up firing order and everyother one should fire together, limiting combinations to two. It doesn't care what stroke it is on

SOURCE: Have a 2001 GR Vitara with rattly engine noise.

well without hearing it its difficult to say but a new timing chain adjuster will help ,if it is the timing chain then just a new adjuster will cure it but it could be the cam followers its difficult to point you in the right direction without hearing it myself then i could tell you exactly ,ask a local mechanic for his opinion first before you start playing with it though

I have a 2005 Chevy Trailblazer with a 4.2 6 cyl. engine. The car has idle problems. It may stall out at a light. It has hesitation.

Have the charging system thoroughly tested and make sure the diodes in the alternator are good . Make sure all grounds , especially PCM grounds are good . Multiple codes are sometimes caused by bad grounds or charging system interference .

2001 audi i check engine light on all cyliners misfiring. cold it be a basic tune up 119 798 miles

My first response is NO.. I am guessing that your motor isnt running at all. It would help to have more details.. engine size? error codes? actual symptoms noticed? any work done? last oil change? your personal mechanical talents rated from 1 - 10?...

ok.. best guess from little info. I am guesing from my experiences that your motor has a timing issue. whether you have a inline 4, V 6 or V8.. you have one,two or two timing chain tensioners inside your motor each chain tensioner keeps the intake and exhaust manifolds tuned to each other. the timing belt keeps the crank shaft and the pulley for the intake/ exhaust valve combo in tune with the crank and values.

Its more likely you have jumped a timing belt and de timed your entire engine in order to get the multiple error codes required to flag all cyclinders as misfires..

More likely than.. the other scenario. of having the plastic feet fail on one or both of the chain tensioners in order to detune the timing father than the electrical components can adjust the spark and gas injections to keep the car running.

So, the simple responce as a summary.. the vehicle likely has a jumped timing belt or potentially failed valve timing chain tensioner "feet".

Both jobs mentioned above are likely to cost a lot of money. If you are a DIY (do it yourself) mechanic then you will want to search google for the 2 or 3 well known Audi forums. Audizine, audiforums and audiWorld.

Best of luck,

there is nothing wrong with the timing chain position . Just a series of sensors that have gone outside the set parameters so if you check and change each one you will clear the faults.

93 chevy lumina runs rough dies and won't start after it warms up

Back firing is usually an indication of a timing issue

The timing chain is most likely worn & jumped a couple
of teeth or the distributor was installed wrong,if you recently
had work done

All of the sudden my check engine light, my VSC light, and my TRAC OFF light came on. Any thoughts?

You need to have the ecm scanned for codes. The VSC and TRAC OFF lights are one just because the Check engine light is on. Once you clear the code in the ecm they will go off too.

2006 dodge caravan, 6 cyl. relaced cole, sparkepugs and wires in oct. 2009. Engine is reading #2 cyl. misfire again. Why

Firts time swap spark plug & ignition coil between two different cylinders and read again if the same #2 cyl. misfires !
If #2 cyl. is OK and another cyl. misfires then spark plug or ignition coil is out of order and must be replaced.
If #2 cyl. misfires again then #2 injector must be checked !
If ignition coils & spark plugs (complete set for 6 cyl.) are replaced then you must check #2 injector !

Vehicle was involved in accident dealership claims jumped time -runs and makes a noise like rattling -never gives same codes -first diag .code po301 said no compression on cyl 1 and 3-tore timing apart and...

p0301=does not mean no compression,it means the computer saw a misfire on # 1 cylinder,
P0345=cam shaft position sensor bank 2,
if the timing marks are on ,i am thinking your hearing a sound of the timing being set too high and pinging under acceleration, try an experiment, refill with a higher grade of fuel for one tank to see if your noise leaves or you hear a difference.

Multiple misfire cyl 3 cyl 6

your vehicle uses a wasted coil pack so two cylinders fail together using that coil so change the coil pack sounds like the favorite to me 3 and 6 are the two cylinders using the same ignition coil
