P 1111 Code for Jaguar 1999 XJ8 - 2004 Jaguar X-Type

I'm having a similar issue to the one described in this post:

However, I can not find an inertia switch. I have a 1998 Jaguar XK8 convertible. Does being a convertible make a difference in this switch's location?
I removed the passenger kick panel and also checked in the fuse box door on the dash at the passenger side. Thank you.

In the trunk (aka Luggage Compartment in England) life the panel to expose the spare tire. Fuse box should be on right side, near bumper. Take off top. Should be fuse 11. 10AMP accessory fuse. there is a constant live to keep memory alive on said circuits, could be a fuse or bad wire

take dash apart and renew the bulbs

Go to Datamanuals.com, download the manual for the car there! although you have to pay for these! the manuals are the actual manufacturers guides and diagnostic tools!

You might need a lube job or you may need to see if noise is coming from another place such as your engine water pump, brakes, power steering. Look for leaks.

the gas gauge is not related, that would be a defective gas gauge sending unit in the gas tank, the check engine light indicates that one of around 200 poss faults has occured in the electronic engine controls, you will need to have the OBD 2 engine control system tested for the fualt code that is stored when the light is turned on.

If the wrong code has been put in the radio more than three times thats the message    Leve the ingnition on for about 30 mins and try again as this should give you an other three trys D

Hi Darrin

Try disconnecting the battery + & - terminals.

Turn the ignition key several times to erase the computers memory.

Reconect the battery + terminal then - and start the car.

Your fault code, will hopefully not return.
