If it still runs, then the idle isnt really too low. if you have an automatic and you shift it into gear then the car dies, then it is too low. but the point of a car idling is to have the engine run on as little fuel as physically possible so a low idle is good however if the car dying when shifted into gear is the problem, then the idle control regulator may need to be adjusted which requires equipment and is best done by people with the equipment or the car may simply need a tune up so the engine runs better with what the idle control regulator says it should take. tune ups can be done at home but they usually go it better at a shop. hope this helps!

Yukon 5.3 low idle, low oil pressure

The low oil pressure will not affect the engine rpm. You need to find the low engine idle problem and correct it first. Could be a simple throttle body cleaning. This would clean out the idle control valve which could be the problem. Most service centers will be able to do that.

How to adjust idle?

hot engine ?, cold or both,, EFI runs in 3 modes, cold ,warm and hot.

name it.

which engine option (displacement)??????

there is no idle adjust, that is the PCMs, job 100%, all the time.

Carbs are gone.

here is rule one for all EFI.

idle is the last thing to work correctly.

anything the causes a gross imbalance of engine power to engine load, under idle will cause , idle controls to fail.

low idling causes. (over 50 but, here ar basics)

1: AFR (air fuel mixture too lean) usually surges. (clogged or leaking injectors. or fuel pressure way to high)

2: air leaks, cause racing, so not that. (speed density car ,if is)

3: egr stuck open. low idle and misfire.

4: ISC stuck closed (IAC electric)

5: cam belt slipped, timing retarded, compression at 1/2 spec, and well, valve will bend soon....

6: CEL glowing running? can be in limphome, limp cancels Idle controls (in may cases) RTM read the FSM on DTCs.

if fails hot?, is hot = 180F temp or more? "thermometer time"

if not, the PCM goes , quite nuts.

Low rough idle

no-- plugs will not be the problem. More likely a vacuum leak from a hose left off somewhere. If a carby engine it will be the idle mixture screw out of adjustment check ignition timing is set at the correct advance point

2004 chrysler sebring 3.0 stalls and will not idle. Engine lite came on and scanner said TPS low voltage on one side. I replaced TPS and it temporarily idled ok. Engine light is now off. Runs fine except...

This is where proper diagnosis comes in...as the TPS sensor voltage low because of a failed TPS sensor? Or was the TPS voltage low due to low battery voltage at the control module? Did you bother to check for the proper voltage at the TPS sensor connector before throwing parts at the problem? If the battery voltage goes low, it is NORMAL for the engine to not idle correctly. Low voltage at the control module can cause the computer to lose all of its "learned" data. It will have to "re-learn" how to idle the engine. This can sometimes take a few days. This is exactly WHY I keep telling people to not be disconnecting batteries in an attempt to "clear" computer fault codes.
If your battery has been going dead, you need to properly test and diagnose your battery and charging system. If this system is not working correctly, there is NO WAY your computer network can function correctly. - this MUST be diagnosed and repaired FIRST!

Car stalls after warm on hot day after a few stops. will stall when stopping at intersections, and when taking foot off the gas going down hills.

The idling setting in the car is not set correctly or the idling is LOW due to fault in the setting.
You will need to check if the throttle position is correct and the idle setting WITH THE CLUTCH PRESSED must be of the CORRECT IDLING RPM. If not reset the position after cleaning the system.

Battery lights is on & don't idle correctly

These trucks have what is called a smart charge system. It normal for the alternator light to elluminate when the truck requires no charging or the idle is low. The most likely reason you have low idle is throtttle body coking which requires cleaning or a bad idle air control valve. Also clogged injectors will cause a low rough idle but if that was the case misfires would show up and can be seen while they happen using a diagnostic data scanner.
And the first thing we always look at is the air cleaner. If you have a K/N filter the oil can contaminate the MAF senor. If the sensor cannot see and feel the air then it won't be able to add fuel causing a low idle, The MAF can be sprayed with brake cleaner to clean it. Usually you will get a p0171 and or a p0174 if the maf was causing a lean condition.
