SOURCE: the car has power but starter just clicks when
The solenoid for the starter may have bad power contacts. Older GM starters had the solenoid mounted to the starter itself. If this starter has just a heavy wire going to it, trace the wire to the solenoid--listen for the click while someone turns the key. Check the heavy wire on the other side of the solenoid which goes directly to the battery positive post. A voltmeter or test light is a handy tool for testing for voltage around the solenoid and the starter terminal.
