Loss of power

Feels like the car is working to hard "to get up and go" the car was given to me with 228K on it. I'm not sure how the car was maintained, was told not to change the ****** fluid because it may in fact make the issue much much worse. Did an oil change but not paying attention put a much much thicker oil in, any advice would be helpful on my next move. Thanks all.

If you have no dipstick on the transmission, you will see a fill plug on it.(usually a red cap) there is another plug that needs to be removed on or near the passenger side axle extension (on transmission). That plug needs to be removed on level ground and trans oil is added through the fill on top till it begins to run from the open plug below. (I know, dopey design) but that's how it's done)

SOURCE: Best said if I steal

You are going to need a really long funnel for this. The reservoir is below the alternator near the firewall. Probably need a flashlight to find it.

SOURCE: My car sometimes revs up

If the idle seemed to go out of control further then the issue may be with the idle air control valve, it may be dirty or may have gone bad. Check also the fuel filter and loose wires and vacuum hoses.

85 Toyota Pick Up 22R (carb) not getting spark

Sounds like a crank sensor to me. I believe this will be found just below your bottom pulley [ crank pulley] . This is responsible for getting power to the coil. These are sometimes hard to get out . I just broke it off and used a socket. I don\'t know how you can test this sensor unless you have a wire test kit. I am not positive on this, but I\'m pretty sure. It sure sounds like it. Let me know how you make out.

FIRSTLY, YOU NEED TO RECONNECT THE BATTERY IN THE PROPER PROCEDURE, IF YOU DISCONNECT THE POSITIVE CABLE FIRST, HAVE IT RECONNECT LAST, THIS WILL RESET THE ECU.
SECONDLY, CHECK THAT THE ALTERNATOR ARE WORKING PROPERLY.

I have a 2002 4.6, just recently with no check engine light the truck has a huge loss of power, it feels like I'm pulling a trailer , it revs up but doesn't drive normal till 50 mph

Exhaust Converters last 12 to 14 years,
except for the folks on this web site

Check that out,may be partially blocked

When you say revs up, if you see any tach
movement & very little vehicle response,
then the trans is slipping & has to come out &
be rebuilt. Fluid change only gives you new fluid,
not a fix for anything, will just slip worse

You should have changed the O2 Sensors at
100,000
Clean MAF once a year

You know the routine, spark plugs etc
