2006 ford five hundred will not start can jump at starter and it starts but when driving it only stays in high gear not much power.

Do you know what the starter relay is ? Starter Relay
The starter relay:
  • is a mini ISO relay that switches power to the starter solenoid to engage the starter motor.
  • receives a START signal from the ignition switch.
  • is controlled by the powertrain control module (PCM).
Starter System - Operation
When the ignition switch is turned to the START position, the starter relay switches power to the starter solenoid causing the starter motor to engage as long as:
  • the digital transmission range (TR) sensor is in PARK or NEUTRAL.
  • the anti-theft system is operational.
  • Do you know what an automotive wiring diagram is ? How to use a test light or DVOM - digital volt ohm meter .

2002 Ford Taurus will not start, I think it is the anti theft system. How do we reset that or by pass it?

If it was the PATS - anti-theft system you would not have any clicking at the starter . You have connection ,cable or starter problems , most likely . Testing the starter electrical circuit doing voltage drop testing .

http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter vehicle info. year , make , model and engine size . Under system click on engine then under subsystem click starting . Click the search buttom then the blue link. Looking at the wiring diagram I see fuse's at the top ,starter relay in the middle an at the bottom the starter , PCM - this is the engine computer . The PCM will energize the starter relay only if it receive's the correct coded message from the PATS module or which module is in charge of that . So you would not even get a click at the starter ,because the relay wouldn't even be energized . You could possibly have a transmission range sensor problem or positive battery cable to tthe starter or ground cable .

Do you know what relay's are ? When you turn the key to the start position it sends B+ voltage signal to the PCM - powertrain control module .(engine computer ) The PCM then energize's the starter relay sending B+ voltage to the S terminal on the starter solenoid . There by cranking the engine ! The PCM will only do this if it see's correct signal from the park neutral safety switch , an a correct pass word from the anti-theft system . Check for control at the relay .

Need the wiring diagram for 2005 Chevy trailblazer underhood fuse block, starting circuit.

Do you know if it is ECM/PCM or BCM controlled ?
Circuit Description (ECM/PCM Controlled)
Moving the ignition switch to the START position sends a 12-volt signal to the engine control module (ECM)/powertrain control module (PCM) Crank Request circuit. The ECM/PCM verifies that the transmission is in the PARK or NEUTRAL position. With the transmission in Park, voltage flows through the Park/Neutral position switch and feeds the starter relay coil. The PCM then grounds the control circuit of the starter relay. When the starter relay is energized it allows battery positive voltage to the starter solenoid S terminal. On some vehicles the starter will continue to crank the engine with the key released until it starts or the crank command has timed out to prevent excessive heat build up in the starter circuitry or the ECM/PCM receives an engine run flag.
Circuit Description (BCM Controlled)
Moving the ignition to the START position signals the body control module (BCM) that engine crank has been requested. The BCM verifies that theft is not active and sends a serial data message to the powertrain control module (PCM) requesting engine start. The BCM also energizes the RUN/CRANK RELAY. When the RUN/CRANK RELAY switch side closes, and the vehicle is in Park or Neutral or with the clutch is fully depressed, if equipped, supplies voltage to the starter relay coil. The PCM verifies the transmission is in Park or Neutral and the clutch is fully depressed, if equipped. The PCM will then ground the control circuit of the starter relay, closing the switch supplying voltage to the starter solenoid. On some vehicles the starter will continue to crank the engine with the key released until it starts of the crank command has timed out to prevent excessive heat build up in the starter circuitry or the PCM receives an engine run flag.

If you look at the diagram you will see the ignition switch ,when in start it sends B+ voltage to the ECM/PCM or depending on which system or engine to the BCM . When it see's this input it will energize the starter relay located in the under hood fuse box. This happens if the control module in charge see's another input from the PNP- park neutral position sensor and if no anti-theft system problems .
Good luck !

Have 2005 pt cruiser full battery charge wont start

The starter motor has two voltage circuits. One comes from the battery, hot all the time. The other circuit goes hot with key in the start position and starter relay is energized. The starter motor grounds through the engine block. If voltage and ground for the starter motor are good, then I would have to check starter motor. You can use a test light to check voltage. Any testing at starter motor make sure tranny is in park or neutral and parking brake is set.

2003 saturn ion wont turn over at all dont even get the usall starter clicking just one click every once in awhile

How to voltage drop test starter motor circuit Looking at a wiring diagram an testing the starter circuit with a DMM - digital multi-meter is the way to find the problem . Free wiring diagram's here http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter vehicle info. year , make , model an engine size. Under system click on engine then under subsystem click on starting . Click the search button then the blue link .
Looking at the diagram you will see this starting circuit is computer controlled . Ignition switch is a low voltage input to the BCM - body control module. A message to the ECM - engine computer from the BCM requesting a start over the serial data network (class2) will energize the relay sending B+ voltage to the S terminal on the starter solenoid . Your best bet mite be to have it towed to a qualified repair shop.

1999 GMC Sonoma 2.2L will not start.

What is wrong????????? That would be a guess on anyones part here ! Testing the electrical circuits involved would be the proper way to diagnose this no start problem ! Using a volt meter an wiring diagram to check voltage at different point's in the starter circuit . voltage drop testing ! Plus knowing how the starter system works !
Starter Circuit Operation
Voltage is applied at all times to the ignition switch from the IGN A fuse through CKT 42 (RED). When the ignition switch is turned to the START position, voltage is applied to the CRANK fuse through CKT 5 (YEL). From the CRANK fuse , voltage is either applied to the clutch pedal position switch (M/T) or the park/neutral position switch (A/T) through CKT 806 (PPL). When either the clutch is disengaged (M/T) or the transmission is in park or neutral (A/T), voltage is applied to the coil of the starter relay through CKT 1035 (PPL/WHT). Since the starter relay is permanently grounded at ground G102 through CKT 150 (BLK), the starter relay energizes.
Voltage is applied at all times to the starter relay contacts from IGN A fuse through CKT 42 (RED). When the starter relay energizes, the starter relay contacts close, and voltage is applied to the starter motor solenoid. Since the starter motor solenoid is permanently case grounded, the starter motor solenoid will energize two coils. The pull-in winding coil energizes in order to pull the starter motor solenoid contacts closed. When the contacts close, a plunger on the contacts causes the pull-in winding coil circuit to open. The hold-in winding coil then holds the starter motor solenoid contacts closed. Voltage is then applied to the starter motor from the battery through CKT 1 (RED) and the closed contacts of the starter motor solenoid. Since the starter motor is also permanently case grounded, the starter motor will run until the ignition switch is moved out of the START position. When this happens, a spring in the starter motor solenoid moves the starter motor solenoid contacts and the plunger back to the rest position.

1993 Cadillac Sedan DeVille won't crank. When I turn the key to start nothing happens. Checked maxi fuses and replace the blown one on the ignition. Still solved nothing. Car only has 87000 miles on it...

Do you know what a wiring diagram is ? How to use a DMM - digital multi-meter to test automotive electrical circuit's ? Do you know about automotive relay circuit's ,how they work ? First off ,your security light ,is it lit on the instrument cluster ? Your vehicle has a starter enable relay ,which is energized by the PASS-KEY 2
decoder module . Testing at the relay can be done to see if the module is turning the relay on which would send ignition switch B+ voltage to the park neutral safety switch on to the starter solenoid . energizing the starter .
