Jammed seat belt

2003 Jaguar X type passenger side seat belt is jammed inside the door post... won't retract. How do remove the plastic covering to get at the mechanism, without affecting the air bag.

Drife... The belt is pulled all the way out now. It doesn't appear to be twisted to me.

I had a 6'-4", 280 # passenger and he managed to jam the belt somehow. I'm concerned about possibly breaking the door post plastic cover (Wisconsin winter) to get at the belt mechanism, without knowing how it is supposed to be removed.

    Any ideas?

I need to replace the belt assembly including retractor. Have located the parts but can't figure out how to remove the trim to get at the old assembly.

The mechanism is located behind the plastic trim panel that covers the pillar. You'll have to remove a couple of screws to get it loose.

Remove seat belt

Hi Ray, Removal of the seat belts requires removal of the seats. Adjust the front seats to the fully backwards position and remove the fixing bolts and then unhook rails at the rear. You will notice a wire cable attached to each seat used to adjust the belt shoulder hight. This must also be disconnected. On later model vehicles there is an automatic retraction unit which pulls the driver and or passenger back into the seat in the event of the air bags being deployed. These connections must also be removed. If seats are electrically operated unplug all connectors. Remove seats and then gently remove plastic door pillar covers. (These are in two pieces for each front belt.) Removal will leave the fixing bolts of retractable part of the seat belt exposed. The buckle side is fixed with one bolt and has an electrical connection which must be disconnected. Hope this is of help? Regards John

My front passenger seat belt is locked in the retracted position so it can not be extended for a passenger to use. How do I fix this or remove the plastic cover to expose the locking device?

if you take the bolt out of the top of the seat belt you should be able to free it up it needs to roll back a bit before it will release

Can I get and install seat belts?

The very best place to find seat belts at a good price is at a salvage yard. Yes you can install them yourself. They simple bolt in. Of course you have to remove some trim pieces to get to the bolts. If you want new belts then there are many places that sell them. http://www.seatbeltcity.com/?gclid=COSf-fi8saECFQEbswodCikcBA

2003 s type jaguar sealt belt on the passenger side will not pull down,I think it is twisted. How can I fix this myself?

its kind of hard as the cover needs to come off and the catch that comes up with the belt causing it to lock needs to be held down so the twist can pass back through.

Seatbelt won't retract

1)move the plastic cover over the seat belt out of the way to gain access to the two mounting bolts for the seat belt mechanism. Use a 10mm wrench and a 14mm wrench and remove the two bolts holding the seat belt mechanism to the body. Use a small drill bit or small screwdriver and make one hole in the plastic cover on each side of the seat belt mechanism (the covers say "do not remove plastic cover". Spray lots of wd40 in each hole. Then exercise the seat belt. When the mechanism allows the belt to be retracted, retract the belt all the way out and exercise the seat belt. Reinstall mechanism with both mounting screws in original position and put plastic cover back in place. Good luck. New seat belt costs $100.00 from dealer and are hard to find working in junk yards. I have fixed several of them this way.

Hello there i have a 2000 chevy blazer has done faily well for having 150,000 miles on it, the problem im having is the passenger seat belt is stuck in retract any quick fixes?

The passenger seat belt wont come out of the B-pillar?? You will have to remove the B-pillar cover to REPLACE the retractor. It is not recomended to attempt a repair on a seat belt(unless it is just twisted and jammed) You may have to cut the belt if it is too tight to gain access.
