I have a 97 chevy s10 4wd pickup truck. need to replace o2 sensor though the pipe is bad. At o2 bung outer pipe crumbled. Need to replace the pipe though can't find aftermarket crossover. Pipe has 3 sensors, muffler shop says cost $400 to fabricate and I supply sensors. The shop also indicates that sensor placement is critical to avoid kicking codes. Any clues to where crossover pipe can be purchased?

One thing to check is the fuel pressure regulator.
If the diaphram is leaking it will cause gas to be pulled into the vacuum system causing lots of white smoke and extreme rough running.

Located on right hand side of block (pass side). It is between motor mount and starter.

was the code for rich or lean? may try cleaning mass air flow sensor. it is in the air intake tube and has a flat wire connector. take out of tube and take four torx bolts out and clean with mass air flow cleaner or brake cleaner and put back in when dry. or it could be a bad wire on the o2 harness. look for chaffing or broken wires in harness by o2. also could be the exhaust system has a slight blockage. could also be some other things but try these first.

you have to know what the code is that your truck putting out your truck has 4 O2 sensors. the trucks computer is smart and the code will tell you witch one is bad but if you replace just one the next one on the same exhaust pipe will probley go bad so its safe to replace all four. the draw back to replaceing all of them is thay cost about 80 bucks for one ACDelco O2 sensor. It has to be done before it will pass Emissions. not a hard part to change about a 7/8 open end wrench will take it off. have fun.

bank 1 is the drivers side bank, so b1s1 would be the drivers side closest to the engine. if the truck is equipped with several 02 sensors then bank 2 or b2s1 would be passenger side closest to the engine. those are called upstream o2 sensors and the others downstream b1s2 and b1s2 b= bank 1= drivers side s=sensor 2=downstream. hope this helps.
