Fuel pump relay gets hot and stalls engine. let vehicle sit for couple hours, engine starts fine. my go for two to three weeks before it happens again
Like Laurie Mack said. It is the inertia switch below the glove box. Here is some funny information. DON'T change the fuel pump first. Interesting fact: I bought the new inertia switch from Ford and the install instructions that came with it said to install the switch in the protected area to the right where the fuses are. It is like Ford knows it was a dumb place to put the inertia switch, but they won't let you know until after you buy a new one. I have read at least 20 other people on here that had the same problem I just had.
Ditto same thing with me, friend and size 11 shoes. I replaced the fuel pump to the tune of 980.00 and the very next week it did the same thing of course mechanic sd prior the fuel pump was bad he ck'd. Oh my real idiot even a female knows if the switch is bad the vehicle will not give a true test.

I have a 2005 F150 and cant find the fuel pump relay any help would be awesome.
Change fuel pump, excessive drain on power ,either a fauty connection or contact or the windings going .this fault could cause the vehicle to catch fire
Unplug the switch wires under the dash if the problem persists. put a paperclip in the wire holes to bypass the switch. only problem is you have to tape the paper clip to the connector. in the mean time the wires get extremely hot melting the wires and clips. eventually the wires will be done for leaving you to replace the wires. quick fix if only temporary for a few months at the max!!!!! no joke it really works. the fuel pump shut off switch is only a safety device that can be bypassed. still trying to find a way to bypass it permanently. (it leaves me stranded too often... especially today when on a date in the mountains with no cell phone service!!)
This just happened to me today, My 905 ranger stalled while driving and i figured an electrical component got wet, i googled the problem while waiting for my truck to dry and found this site. My friend kicked the electrical connector off the fuel pump relay switch with his foot. I reco'd it and it fired right up. simple fix, stupid location, glad this did'nt happen while doing 80mph down I-95
Locate the fuel pump relay in the engine compartment fuse block at location K4/C-1051. Remove the fuel pump relay. Start the engine and allow it to idle until it stalls. Crank the engine for 5 seconds to ensure fuel supply manifold pressure is released. When vehicle service is complete, reinstall the fuel pump relay and turn the ignition on to pressurize the fuel system. Start the vehicle and check the system for leaks.

My 2003 Ford Ranger truck just stalls without warning. This may be the problem. It can happen at any speed. Any insight is appreciated.
I have 2005 Ranger that quit on me twice. After purchasing a fuel pump we located an orange button outside of the box that after it was pushed in the truck started. All you people that have rangers check for a button where your feet are on the passenger side. Common factor when my truck died. Daughter with long legs and big feet. (not kidding).
It then starts after an hour or two
Mne did the same after 2 hrs. but the next time it wouldn't start at all...after pushing the button
