Start your cr-v and let idle for 10 or so seconds in park. shut it off and check the fluid with in 30 seconds. if you check the fluid running it will read low and get overfilled. level ground is also important.

This is a great question because each vehicle manufacturer has a slightly different checking process and if the wrong process is used, the reading will not be accurate. For a 2004 Honda CRV equipped with an automatic transmission, the transmission fluid level should be checked at normal operating temperature (vehicle all the way warmed-up). Start by parking the vehicle on level ground and turn off the engine. Next, remove the dipstick (yellow loop) from the transmission and wipe it off. Then, insert the dipstick back into the transmission fully. Lastly, remove the dipstick once more and read the level; it should be between the upper and lower marks. If the level is below the lower mark, add fluid into the filler hole to bring it to the upper mark. This should be done using Honda ATF-Z1 or equivalent although DEXRON III can be used in an emergency situation (but may affect shift quality). (Not a mechanic) First thing to check is the transmission fluid level. If excessivly low it may not move. (Usually check trans fluid with transmission dip stick, while engine is idling and warmed up) Consult owners manual to verify procedure. If your fluid levels are normal or close to normal, you should call a transmission shop unless you are or know a good mechanic.
If it's an automatic trans and you mean it revs real high(like in nuetral)then jerks into gear then the ****** is going bad.check to make sure the fluid level is right(do not overfill) and check to see wether you are leaking any ****** fluid. Also if you pull the ****** dipstick and it gives off a burnt smell then you know its going up.
This is also a warning light for the brake system. You may need to replace the brake pads. The light will come one when the brake fluid level goes below a preset limit. It could also mean the brake fluid is just low add more brake fluid to "MAX" line on the side of the brake master cylinder mounted at the firewall in the engine compartment. The reason it turns on and off is due to the fluid sloshing up and down over the low level sensor. Good luck to you
Check the transmission fluid level, if that is ok have the transmission fluid and filter changed. Sometimes the filter can fall on the transmission pan and can cause problems. Worst it's your front pump going bad. look for bubbles on your dip stick when checking your fluid and that's a abd sign, Good luck
Thank you. Will try it on your word.
