There is no fuse for only the fuel gauge light. the fuse for the panel illumination is all on the same fuse so if only one part of the panel is out then its will be a bulb or diode behind the gauge that has failed.

I doubt there is a fuse solely for the fuel gauge, most likely the majority of the instrument panel will be on the same circuit and share a fuse.

I suggest you begin by checking the fuel tank gauge sender unit ground and the internal rheostat with an ohmmeter. Grounding the gauge wire at the tank should produce a full tank reading at the gauge if the supply, gauge and wiring is ok...
the fuel level sensor is a float off the side of the fuel sender. over time these floats can become weak at the pivot point and read inaccurately. fuel sender should be replaced to correct this problem
These vehicles seem to have a problematic short, my grandfather has the same vehicle with the same problem, i found the short under the carpet on the driver side of the vehicle, under the gas pedal, sometimes wires can crack and break.
