Tell you what, since you're convinced you have a problem, Go to www.hmaservice.com and register( Vehicle by VIN). Afterward, you have access to shop manuals, service bulletins, wiring diagrams, etc. about your vehicle.

As they work on friction you may be able to
compress the material on the outside which will then give the inside more grip.
Put a cloth around the top of the visor to protect the material and use Mole grips with the half circle jaws or pliers of the same construction grips to squeeze the area around where the rod enters the visor
Other option is a wreckers yard?

My driver side sun visor was broke too wouldn't stay up, You can buy new from dealer, or at a junk yard, all you do is pull visor down and unplug connection, plug new one in.
