I have a 93 chevy lumina euro 3.1 liter. it will start and run fine until it warms up. once it gets warm it seems to starve for fuel and dies! no matter how i try to keep it running it will die anyway. if i try to start it right after it dies it fails to do so. if i let it sit for 10-15 minutes it will then start and run like nothing is wrong wiuth it...until it warms up again! can you please help me??!!!
Sounds like it could be a fuel injector shorting out. have to get it hot, pull off the plenum and check the resistance in each injector. if any injector has bad resistance, replace it. when an injector shorts out on these particular vehicles, it shorts out the whole injection circuit. and when it cools off the resistance goes back up and it will run ok. i think the correct resistance should be about 13 ohms.
If you can check for spark when it wont start and fuel pressure and the service port , would be great information , otherwise pattern failure is ignition module and crank sensor (replace them as a set) , after cools off it will run again.
do you have diagnostic codes , it a light on your dash ? if not its back to the basics , ign module and fuel pump , fuel pumps dont generally cool off and start back up , modules do .
if your MAP sensor lost its vacuum hose it would want to flood the engine when warmed up and IAC would try to compensate , check that MAP sensor for a vacuum hose that fell off , im remembering just what that application looks like now , it is in the back near firewall connected to a bracket on rear intake manifold , hard to work with .

I have a 1993 chevy erro did the same thing after changing alot of parts.
we found that it was the computer chip.. my car has been running great eversince. allso gave it aa new paint job 152,ooo miles and still is dependable..computer chip cost me 165.00 used
where does the computdr chip go
computer chip got about five of them from the junk yard as back up my car is now 24 years old and still running good 1 of the computer chips I had to have reprogramed from a chevry dealer .
Computer chip is a square box mine is under the hood mounted to the fire wall has about four plugs with wires on it and is very easy to swap make sure you get a computer chip from the same type of car you have or it can misread the car. one other thing if you get a wrong one as I found out chevry can reprogram it for you there is a panel on your box take the four screws off look at the chip from your original, when you go to get a new one make sure those numbers on your chip match.. I do have extra and some chips that do not match my car as back then I did not know. If you wanted you can have chevry reprogram yours for around 165.00 back than and it was hard to find a dealer who still had the tools to do it for me.
it is the computer chip mine did the same thing 25 years later after getting one from a junk yard and having diamond Chevrolet program it. It is still running today never had the problem again. 10-2-2018

I have same problem and i will say this that it happened when the car ran out of gas. so i assume it is the fuel pump i already changed the filter and that made no difference. im going to drop the tank and change the fuel pum within the next couple weeks so i will definitely post the outcome 4 everyone. ps a good friend of mine had a lumina of same type and it acted the same but it would NEVER start. he changed the pump and it was fine after that. ill post soon
My 93 lumina euro starts and runs fine for about 10 to 15 minutes and begins to spit n sputter then it will stall if your not on the gas. Even sometimes when u put it into drive it will just stall.... but it always starts right back up and continues to do this problem untill it cools down some. I checked the spark plug wires and all three up front were arcing which i doubt helps but i was also told that the wires arcing is probably not the only problem. The other problem i was told it could be is the mass air flow thing in the intake tube..... any one with any suggestions please share
I have the very same problem . . but i have used a atsrting fluid to start the car (spray it in the air intake . .or remove intake hose and spreay it there) . . soo . . its deffinitely not the flooding . . . its the injectors losing pulse . . . .

I can tell by how it sounds that it wants to start... just won't till it cools off. could it be the temperature sensor?
I just did a self diagnostic test and i came up with codes 33 & 35....any idea?
the cooloing fan also turns on while running the diagnostic test. is this normal? the engine was cold when i did the test... yet the fan don't seem to want to come on when it should...like when the engine is running hot!
the last comment could be the key . . .mine does the same thing . . . .also when youre cranking away when hot, not stepping on the gas helps as if you do so . .the engine is flooded even more . . .
I have this same problem with my 1990 lumina and i replaced in this order. iac, map. ing. module, cps, traced out and repaired wires to the cps and then replaced the ecm. the car ran for 20 min. so i testdrove it
and it satlled but started back up i drove it for 45 min.the longer i drove it the better it ran but it hesitated a lot well after driving about 45 miles the next day it stalled again and won't start any ideas?
