You don't take anything off

You just put a long 1/2" ratchet in the hole on
the tensioner & Pull against the spring tension until
you have the belt over the final pulley

SOURCE: Replace a serpintine belt on a 1997 Buick Park Avenue

Your car requires you to removed the motor mount to replace the belt. The best way to do it is to place a piece of wood on a small jack and jack up on the engine oil pan. Then removed the motor mount and replace the belt. There is no other way to do it.

Alternator needs replaced is this possible to do my self, if so how do i find instruction

This is a set of general instructions. Steps may vary depending on the specific vehicle you are working on.

1. Place fender covers over the fenders

2. Disconnect the battery ground cable

3. Disconnect and label the wiring harness connections to the alternator (Painters Masking tape works very well for labeling automotive wiring).

If you vehicle is equipped with the belt tensioner:

4. Insert a 3/8th " ratchet wrench or a serpentine belt tool in the square located on the tensioner

5. Put pressure on the tensioner toward the center of the engine and move the belt off the Alternator pulley.

6. Loosen the alternator Pivot bolt and the bolt that attaches the alternator to the adjustment arm

If you vehicle does not have a belt tensioner:

4. Loosen the alternator pivot bolt.

5. Remove the bolt that attaches the alternator to the adjustment arm.

6. Rotate the alternator to loosen the drive belt and disengage the belt from the pulley. Be careful that any spacers that are used in mounting are kept with their original bolts. This will make correct reinstallation much easier.

7. While supporting the alternator remove the pivot bolt.

8. Remove the alternator from the vehicle.

always take the negative battery terminal off to avoid shorting the charge wire. Next, remove the serpentine belt by twisting the tensioner loose. Then you can remove the alternator bolts. Let me know if you have more questions.

Alternator

First you need to remove the serpintine belt or alternator belt. If it is a serpintine locate the tension pully(the one that doesn't look like it does anything) place a wrench over the pully bolt and pull while removing the belt. Most generaly all alternators have two bolts holding them in. Remove both bolts. and remove alternator on some vehicles you need to remove the top engine mounts to remove the acctual alternator. make sure you if you do this you put a jack under the bngine block. NEVER ON THE OIL PAN. After that simply remove the old alternator and replace it with the new one reinstall the serpintine belt as instructed on either the underside of your hood or where the hood latch is.

How to loosen alternator tension on a 2003 Lancer

I have not seen this vehicle but, the center bolt or nut that holds the tensioner to the block is backed off two turns first.
Then the adustment bolt (most are accesed from under the vehicle) can be adjusted to give enough slack to install the new belt.
If this is still too tight, remove one of the two or two of the three bolts that mount the Alternator to allow for another 1/8" and install the belt.
Then remount the Alternator.
Then readjust the tension bolt.
Finish with the bolt or nut that mounts the tensionor to the block.
good luck.

Using a short socket of appropriate metric value, and a pry bar; Push the pry bar toward the firewall to loosen the tension on the belt. It's not that hard once you buck the initial spiral spring pressure of the tensionor. I have even pryed against the tensionor with a blunt heavy bar and moved it enough to free a belt.

Loosen the serpintine belt on 95 buick lesabre

I'm sure you got it figured out by now, but I just did this today. the belt can be given slack by placing a ratchet on the belt tension pulley (the smaller one located to the left of the alternator) and applying counterclockwise pressure. This will give you enough slack to remove the belt. It is helpful to draw a little diagram of the belt configuration, so when you put on the new one, you get all the directions right.

How do you put on a serpintine belt

I replaced mine, wasn't too tough. You just have to get a wrench on the loosening pulley. Once you loosen it just work the belt off. get the new one almost all the way on then push on the loosening pulley and slide it the rest of the way on. (Loosening pull is the pulley below the alternator. I used the proper size wrench and put a long pipe on the end for leverage.
