My manual transmission SUV won't shift into any gear with the clutch depressed.
You must tow your car to the garage right now, don't mess with it. Otherwise you could damage both transmission and engine.
Then there is a serious problem with the clutch. turn the engine off and engage a gear and try and roll the truck, do it feel like it is in gear? if not the clutch is either defective or the transmission input shaft is broken
Very bad advice. It's obvious you know nothing about cars.
Mr Razan what is your problem?? Fixed cars for 45 years, Master tech in all phases. I do not see any explanation here from you about the above problem??
It will not damage the transmission since the vehicle can't be driven. Just have it looked at asap. Thanks for using Fixya.

I had the same problem when I bought my GTI a few years back. It turned out that the reverse gear was shot which resulted in a new transmission. It kinda sounds like you may be in the same boat.

Clutch may be smooth but this is a sign of the clutch needing replaced. Some of these models have a linkage adjustment under the hood. Others are hydrallic and need fluid. Look under the hood where the steering is and see which you have and address accordingly. Good luck. Check on costs of clutch replacement.

I also have a 2009 Outlander Sportronic transmission with a V6 engine.
Bought it this summer ... transmission appeared fine but seemed to automatically slow down the vehicle using the engines compression whenever I let go of the gas pedal.
Now that the cold weather is upon us here in Canada, whenever I accelarate normally (not like a teenager) the transmission takes quite a bit of time to shift into second... If I rev up the engine (quick take off) it seems to help but the shifting of gears is not as smooth as I would expect it (mildly slips and kicks into second)...
The worst is when come to a complete stop ... then the transmission kicks coming down from the higher gears???
I read somewhere that this is because this transmission is a CVT type and is learning my driving habits in order to adjust itself so the vehicle becomes more fuel efficient... Not sure but if the trany is computer controlled then it must be poorly writen program...
I'm taking the car in to the dealer and will write back on the diagnostic they give me ...
For
car not changing gears and not shifting out of park mode ,it can be shifter assembly issue, or it can also be
transmission issue. Get the shifter assembly inspected with ignition OFF.
