I have a 91 passat, 2.0 16valve engine , weather got to
-25C and i think the oil filter was full of frozen oil. the car started great and i went in the house to let it warm up. i saw from the house window that the car was rapidly leaking oil.- it was coming from an o -ring above the filter, the filter screws into a square housing( oil cooler?),which is connected to a circular housing and rubber o-ring(the leak) with a sensor wire sticking out the top. i cant find a repair manual or even a diagram to figure out how to get the new o-ring in there. does anyone know how to get this part off? or a spot i can view a diagram of this part ? any help would be appreciated.
I have the same problem on a 1999 passat... Car has over 180k on it... Doesen't drop below 32 degrees where I live here in sunny california.
From what I can see, I think the part is called an "Engine Oil Cooler Seal"
