Faulty wiring causes short circuits and blown fuse/s.
The blown fuse in the fuse box indicates the faulty circuit and this is where you start tracing the problem.

1970 volkswagen beetle, my #1 fuse keeps blowing. I am using an 8 amp as suggested, but as soon as i put it in and turn the car on it pops. Any suggestions?

Hey Kellan,
I would try to find out WHY the fuse is blowing.. but... you might try a 10 amp.. BUT NO MORE.... if the 10 amp blows right away... you MUST find out why they are blowing...
Check battery connections, ignition switch, any where the main wiring is passing through the firewall, or anywhere the harness is reduced through tight spaces...

Do i need fuses in the diagnosis box

good question
no, its really just a jumper , it cant blow out.
its there to activate the ECU flash codes, like all cars of this era.
you can study this here.
with the fuse in place the CEL lamp flashes error codes , if any.

License Plate light dont work

Hi Merido, If the fuse is blowing in the center try using a fuse with a higher rating. If the fuse is blowing towards the side, you have a short circuit. If the rear lights are working correctly the problem will be between the tail lamp wiring and the number plate. look for anywhere on the harness which may be rubbing against the body of the car. It should not be too dificult to find the fault and rectify it. Regards John

I have a fuse that keeps blowing and the white letters are gone so i dont know what it goes to

you have some componet that has melted down contacts (it's hotwire is grounded) so every-time u turn on the key power is fed to direct short and the fuse blows. So look around at things that dont work.after fuse blows does motor still operate, keep it running and find out what doesnt work then check that component for melted, grounded wires...

Dead short in park light curcuit how do i trace fault

How do you know you have a short?
Does a fuse blow continually?
Does it blow without any bulbs in all four sockets?
Does it blow with the light switch unplugged?

Just a place to start.
For me,I would have a complete wiring diagram and my VOM Meter out and study this for awhile. Think it out logically, not guess. Then test.

My fuse number 8 keeps blowing in my 1996 ford mustang. I dont know much about cars. Can anyone help me please???

You owners manual will tell all the things protected by that fuse.Unplug everything the book list, put in a new fuse and if it does'nt blow then start plugging the harnesses back in an the defective part will make the fuses blow.If it blows with everything unplugged, then the problem is in you harness.Have fun!
