listen for fuel pump when u turn key to on [not start] should hear a hum-check for pressure at fuel port -if pressure need to start checking sensors a bad crankcase position sensor--camshaft position sensor --bad egr valve--can shut down and not allow start those components sometimes dont throw a code

I had a similar problem with my 2005 Cobalt LT. Mine was as simple as checking the engine oil level. When the engine oil gets too low it will make the car do all kinds of weird stuff.

The same thing happed to my 06 cobalt. The thing is that the DUMB A** at GM made the whole power steering electrical. Your going to have to change the the little computer that is located right under the steering wheel. if you go to the dealership they are going to RIP YOU OFF. What i did was i got the part at a GM junk yard, all it cost me was $200. your going to have to take the whole steering wheel of and change it. I hope i helped. GM needs to do a recall b4 someone God forbid, dies form this in an accident.

well if they say they did not do its a hard thing to fight all you have to do is bleed the brakes and that does not cost anywhere near 2000 try a small garage

The power steering is on this vehicle is electronically assisted. Meaning it does not have a power steering pump. The electric motor could be going out, pulling too much current at times, and tripping the breaker. The best thing to do is take it to the dealer, and have them inspect it.
