My 2001 Toyota Sienna's cruise control stops working when the headlights come on. The day lights do not affect the problem. The cruise lights on the dash stay on the whole time but the cruise stops and will not engage until the headlights are off.
If I turn the headlights all the way on and it is light outside, everything works but when it gets darker and the headlights come on, the cruise stops working. If I turn the light switch so that the headlights are always on the cruise will not engage. If it is dark and I turn the headlights off, it works. It only fails if the headlights(not day lights) are on.

You may have a faulty brake lamp switch at the brake pedal. If the brake lights come on (via a bad switch), the cruise will cut off.

Ask the dealer about the lens. That is where 98% come from

sounds like the switch has a fault

The problem is in the sunvisor light. You will have to take the light assembly off and you will find wires have become disconnected.

My 1998 Mazda 626 is doing the same thing. I have also noticed that during daylight driving, stepping on the brake pedal causes the in-dash aftermarket stereo display to dim. My car doesn't have a direct alternator display, only an idiot light, which so far hasn't come on.
I have the exact same problem/conditions on my 2000 Sienna LXE with the cruise control. It just started recently and I have not figured out the problem yet. If anyone has a solution, it would be great to hear about it.
