Starter problems starter just clicks

need more information though the most common problems emanate from flat battery, starter motor not getting power(no click sound), starter motor not turning( clicking but no whinning), starter motor turning but not starting( bendix worn out), other contributing factors include fuel and spark. provide more details to get help

If it was a anti-theft system problem ,you wouldn't get any clicking ,nothing ! The clicking you hear could be the starter relay . Problem could also be main battery cable going to the starter .. Voltage drop test the cable's ,ground .

when u open the hood! on the passenger side near the head lite ! youll find the starter solenoid on the inner fender

its the starter relay,not the starter that clicks,change the relay.....

usually the starter itself try tapping it with a hammer if you can access it easisly tap the top of the starter the solonoid. thats where the clicking is coming from. also make sure your batery it fully charged that will give you a clicking also.

The most common issue is a bad contact in the starter solenoid.
This solenoid is part of the starter assembly and makes the high amperage battery to starter connection
When you hear the click the solenoid is activating but not completing the battery to starter contact.
If this is an original starter or been on for a long time I would suggest changing the starter assembly.
Also in your under hood fuse/relay panel there is a smaller relay that activates the starter solenoid that should be checked before replacing the starter. Although less common for that to happen it does occasionally cause a problem. Easy to replace too.

replace the starter, the selenoid is screwed (selenoid located on the starter) easier to replace the whole starter

is it a rappid clicking if so bad batt. if single click bad starter rappid click somtimes mean dirty cables or bad ground single click is bad starter could be silanoid or contacks

if you have changed the battery and starter we most likly at this stage rule them out.from experance i would say its an earthing problem; number one ,earth strap from car body to engine,number two earth lead from starter motor to battery,and the last one earth strap from neg side of battery to car body check all these and romove and clean.hope this cures your problem.adrian
