1)Have your battery tested, if good
2)Check your grounds and battery connections, if good
3)We can safely assume you have a bad starter, remove and replace
You have bad contacts on the starter solenoid. You are going to have to have the starter motor removed, and the contacts replaced. This is a very common problem; I stock several sets of replacement contacts in my parts department.
The downside: If you have a V-8, This is nowhere near an "easy job", as the starter is located directly under the intake manifold. The entire intake needs to be removed to get to the starter. Expect to pay a mechanic 4 hours labour to R & R and repair your starter, plus parts.
