Could have faulty mass air flow sensor, but first have vechicle code scan see what causing check engine light to turn on.
1) you must the ignition timing ti the m .specificaitonit does not matter that you have EI.
2) test the wire spark plug
3) test the spark plug and adjust the gap
4) test the IGNITION COIL
5) test the EI Module.
6) will be a good idea to scanner +computer test
7) test the sensors for faulty.

Check Alternator/battery conditions and connections. The Engine management system in the Jaguar is very unpredictable when the battery terminal voltage is low. You should get a better idea of the problem by looking up the code. But a poor/low terminal voltage will not be indicated. Check code on http://www.bluejag.co.uk/diagnosticcodes.php

I use to have the same problem, you may need someone with thin hands and large fingers, I went to mechanic, he uses a large curved tweezers, it´s very difficult to do it yourself, I spend several hours trying, but I abort the job and went to mechanic he fix the problem in 10 mins.

most likely the ran it up on the lift and that triggers all these. you should be able to bring it any local garage and they should clear it.

Fuel pump is accessed through a hole below the back seat. Remove the seat and there is a rubber round cover over each fuel pump. Fuel pumps are held in place with a large round retaining ring that is screwed off.
