You now need a special service tool to do this. You can purchase one from a Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep dealer. Otherwise have your next oil change done at a dealer and ask them to do it.

What is the purpose of oil cap on valve cover

That is where you put the oil when you are low on oil or when you an oil change. When you open the hood you should see a oil dipstick. Make sure the car has been off for at least 5 to 10 minutes. Have a clean paper towel and remove the dipstick. make sure its the dipstick if you have an automatic transmission. trans fluid is red in color oil will be golden to dark black depending on how often you change the oil. wipe the dipstick off and at the end you will see a full mark near the end. Replace the dipstick back into the tube you removed it from and pull it out again, check the end where it says full. If there is oil up to the full mark your good, if not add oil through the oil cap hole in valve cover top. re-wipe the dip stick and check to see if full. Add oil as needed. If you keep up with your oil changes as required depending on the oil requirements. 10w30 regular oil is every 3,000 miles. Castrol synthetic oil is every 21,000 miles. Use a good oil filter. Consult your auto parts dealer.

How to check trans oil level and condition

  • There is a 8mm or 10mm plug on the back of the transmission (underneath the car) When you pull that plug if fluid comes out then it it full. If not you add fluid until it just barely comes out that hole and then the transmission is full.
  • Now you add fluid from the top of the transmission. You have to look way down in the engine bay on top of the transmission for a red or black cap. It may say "do not open" or "open by a technician only." Take and pull that cap off and this is the fill spout for the transmission. It's a fill only, not a check. Add from this spout until it comes out that little plug on the back of the transmission.
  • You will hear people call this a "sealed" transmission of "non-serviceable." Now you can tell them rubbish lol.
  • To check the condition you can look to see if it is getting black or smells burnt. After 50,000 miles the fluid needs flushed and after 100,000 miles you need to change the filter and gasket for the transmission.

NEED TO ADD /CHECK TRANS FLUID

The best way to do this is locate the dipstick for the transmission. It is normally at the back of the engine on the passenger or drivers side. It will more than likely be yellow. To check it, start the vehicle and pull out the dipstick.

How do I check the trans fluid level?

Make sure the transmission is at operating temp, with engine running foot on brake put gear shift in each position then go back to park, set park brake open hood you will need light to see a red cap kind of under neath th rubber tube from the air cleaner to the throttle body. Turn the cap counterclockwise, pull up on the cap, wipe it off re-insert it, make sure you push it all the way down the turn to lock it, unlock it pull it back out and check the level to the marks on the dip stick. When finished make sure the dip stick is locked in place.

WHILE DOING AN ENGINE OIL CHANGE I DRAINED THE AUTO TRANS FLUID BY MISTAKE. HOW DO I RE'FILL THE TRANS ?

Fluid Level Checking & Filling To Check:
  1. Connect a scan tool to the vehicle to read ATF temperature. ATF checking temperature should be 95° - 113°F (35° - 45°C).
  2. Start the engine.
  3. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  4. Place a drain pan under the transmission.
  5. Allow the ATF temperature to reach 95° - 113°F (35° - 45°C). Automatic transmission fluid inspection plug vw-07-00-7273.gif

  6. Remove the inspection plug from the transmission housing. Fluid is pipe will run out. If fluid continues to drip out, no additional fluid is needed. If only the fluid in the overflow pipe runs out, additional fluid is needed.
To Fill:
Automatic transmission fluid filler pipe vw-07-00-7274.gif

  1. Pry the cap from the filler pipe. The cap locking device will be destroyed during removal.
  2. Pull the plug from the filler pipe.
  3. Add fluid slowly with VAG 1924 or equivalent until fluid runs out of the inspection hole. Install the inspection hole plug.
  4. Install the plug in the filler pipe and secure with a new cap.

NEED HELP 2007 dodge caliber

It only has the tube, the dealership has a dipstick to check it. It has to be checked with a scan tool hooked to the vehicle so they can read trans fluid temp. This is why you no longer get the dipstick with the car
