This Van has a system in it called delayed exit, this means the radio and other accessories stay on for a time as long as none of the doors are opened, when the door is opened the module senses that switch in the door is activated and shuts everything off. The easy way to test this is open the passenger door, if all shuts off you found the problem, the driver door switch is defective. the switch is attached to the door lock inside the door.

Most likely is a fuse. There is a fuse box at the end of the right side of the dash. Open front passenger door and there is a cover that says fuses on the end of dash. There is also a fuse box located under the hood at the right front of engine compartment. It should have a cover with a round knob in the middle of it .Unscrew the knob to remove cover.

Actually this is the answer, well at least it fixed my problem and for others reading before you go to dealer or buy replacement anything check some wires first.. first my unlock button didnt work driver side, then driver side window quit working and then radio wouldnt shut off..the equinox doesnt have a push button sensor its inside the hinges so its not the sensor...if you open your driver side door and in the jam look for the rubber boot....loosen the rubber boot from the door and from the frame of the car so that you can examine the wires inside there....to my surprise 4 of my wires were ripped in half and 2 of them had previously had an attempt to repair with crimps...so check your wires before you do anything else if your having any of the problems that I was having! Hope this helps, no where did I find the answer I was looking for on any forum, hopefully this is the problem and its a quick fix, just seems like it may be a problem that will continue to happen!

You need to replace the handle itself. The inside of the handle where the metal cable fitting attaches causes too much strain on the plastic and the molded groove breaks. Ford has the same problem. I don't know why these car man. dont just go back to all metal exterior handles. If you have time you can probably fix it with epoxy and washers, but the fastest way is to get one aftermarket or from a junkyard. Hope this answers your question.
Please remember to rate this fix.
