Battery light is indicating that you have a problem with your charging system (alternator).
Sometime old faults are stored on system and need to clear the memory.
To clear the memory.
unplug both wires on battery terminal.
Touch them wire together that will clear any stored memory from the system.
Reconnect wire and re-check for any lights.

I have the same car I had the same problem.If you have the correct battery for your car with the same problem you have a short or positive ground in your dash/electric fuel pump/fuse box also be carefull of how you take the key from the ignition and if they're old replace them.

The EML light will come on if you have an emissions fault , the car may drive ok but you may find you are using more fuel , it would be better to get the problem checked just to be on the safe side , regards mark.
