I own a 2004 jeep grand cherokee and the power windows dont work and the dome light stays on.
It has to be a broken wire! Initially, I lost the door locks & power to the windows ONLY when the drivers door was open. When I closed the door, the problem went away. Finally, I had the problem all the time. I checked for 12 vdc at the switch in the drivers door and there was NO POWER. In the rubber boot (between the car & door) I found the grey wire (with a pink stripe) was broken internally but the INSULATION WAS NOT!!!
Yes i found a black wire broke, fixed it and everything is working. Thanks for the info..
I had the same problem. With these Jeeps it is common for a wire or two to break in the rubber accordion thing running from the body to the door in the jam.

Interior lights stay on mosto of the time. Problem ahas progressed from sometime to most of the time. Now, power windows and door locks do not work. Initially on drivers door window and door lock stopped working. Now all stopped working.
I have same problem. But i can shut off the dome lights from the head light dimer switch.
I have exactly the same problem.
check out this webpage for a solution that seems to have worked for others. it was a loose wire. I am going to attempt to fix this bug, and if I am successful, then I will try to post details.

I have the same problem. My son checked all the fuses last night and found nothing. However, the lights did start working correctly again, but the windows and locks still do not work. Help! I can't really afford to take it to the shop. Is this something that can be fixed by my son?
