2003 Ford Explorer door ajar light stay on when all doors are closed. When driving, door ajar light stays on even though all doors are fully closed. I have young childern and my wife gets very concerned thinking one of the doors is actually open. Remote able to lock doors but interior lights remain on, remote locks doors but cabin lights and mirror lights stay on.
I had this problem on my 2003 explorer and took WD40 and gave the lock mechanism a good dose where it meets the clasp on the door jam. Then open and close the doors a couple of times to get them working. They get gummed up and sometimes have a tendency to stick.
The door switches sometimes stick. Spray some WD-40 or similar lube on them.
You need to replace the door jamb switch inside the door that is affected. Probably in the door used most...Drivers.

I have this problem and when it happens the dome lights as well as the mirror lights stay on. Also, the keyless entry pads don't work this this problem occurs.

slowing down to stop.Not heard at high speed. Seen some TSB's about possible trasnfer case needing reprogram on axle speed.

i have a 2003 ford explorer and last week, the door ajar light would stay on constatly. and at the same time the driver side door lock on the door panel wont work, and the dome light stays on even after the car is locked for like 20 minutes. its getting very annoying

ive got the same problem ive traced it to the wiring in the door just goots figure what one cant even leave the keys in the ignition with the car turned off because the warning buzzer stays on until I turn the key to on
