If the check engine light is on you should have the computer checked for trouble codes. That might point you in the right direction to troubleshoot the charging system.
You could have blown the maxi fuse for the alternator.

No power from alternator to battery

Is the battery ignition light coming on when you turn the key on. Wiring for an alternator is quite simple, the 60amp cable (thick wire) is a direct feed to the battery. The thin wire (normally blue) connected to the 'ing' terminal gets a live feed via the battery ignition light. if the bulb has blown or this wire is not connected, the alternator will not charge. If you can, use a 12v 5watt test light connected to the battery, start the engine and touch the 'ing' terminal. this should prove and energies the alternator to start charging.

New battery, new altnator, like it keeps draining the battery and has no power when trying to start. head lights r not working

It sounds like you have a draw due to a short circuit. Pull all the fuses from your fuse panel and make sure everything is turned off. Then, use a digital mulitmeter , with each lead on 1 battery post. Have an assistant start to reinstall the fuses, one by one. When the voltage drops as a fuse is installed , you have found the circuit which has a problem.

Problem with lights on my tracker it drain's my battery i have a good altnator on it

If the lights drain the battery when the engine is running, then you have a bigger problem of the alternator not charging, not working. When the engine is running, the alternator supplies all the current to run the car's electrical systems, while also charging up the battery for the next start-up. If you know the alternator is good, then maybe a fuse or fusible link has blown, preventing the alternator from working. To check, put a voltmeter on the battery with engine running-it should show over 13.5 volts if the charging system is working. If the alternator is not putting out, the voltmeter will read same voltage on the battery as when the engine is not running. A fully charged battery should show "around" 12.6 volts. A discharged battery will show less than 12 volts. That should give you an idea of the range to look for on a voltmeter. I believe some parts stores will check the voltage for free. I know most stores will test the alternator and battery for free if brought into the store, but you need the voltage read while on the car and engine running. If the system is charging normally and the lights kill everything, you may have a short in the lighting system.

Automatic transmission nissan altima 1999

My battery had a dead short in it which caused my transmission not to shift properly. The give away was that I checked to see if the altnator was putting out and it was not but the engine light was not telling me it was bad. I put a new battery in it and then the altnator stared putting voltage back in the battery. I had a dead short in the battery. The transmission worked fine after I changed the battery. Another problem was the fan for the air conditner and the windows would not work except when the battery charge was conected. This was my first time to see what a dead short in a battery would do. Hope this helps others with this problem.

The battery light and break light are on. The power is lost quickly.

IF YOUR BATTERY LIGHT AND THE BRAKE LIGHT ARE ON AT THE SAME TIME THAN CHANCES ARE THE ALTNATER IS FAILING. WHAT I WOULD DO TO TEST THIS AT HOME IS START THE CAR, REMOVE THE BATTERY CABLES IF THE CAR DIES THAN THE ALTNATER IS ON IT'S WAY OUT. IF THE CAR STAYS RUNNING TURN THE HEAD LIGHTS ON IF IT SLOWLY STARTS TO DIE SAME THING THE ALTNATER IS GOING. OR IF YOU ARE NOT SURE YOU CAN DO THAT YOU CAN GO TO YOUR LOCAL AUTO ZONE AND THEY CAN TEST THE STARTING AND CHARGING SYSTEM FOR FREE. TRY THAT AND GOOD LUCK HOPE THIS HELPED.
