The problem first popped up last week. When i place the car in gear, the daytime running light icon flashes, then goes out, then service light comes on. Daytime lights weren't working, but headlights would turn on manually. Now, the high beam indicator comes on when I try to turn on headlights, but there still isn't any light. Pep Boys ran diagnostic, couldn't find the problem, say they need to remove the firewall. Help!
Your firewall is part of the body and is welded in place. Removal is impossible. It sounds like your multi-switch is faulty. That switch is your turn signal lever. You have to remove the steering wheel to replace it. If you don't know how to disable the airbag, don't try to fix it yourself. Let a mechanic or the dealer do it.

I had the "service vehicle soon" light come twice with in 1 year. First the heald light bulbs were gone. Replaced the head light bulbs and after 2 starts the "service vehicle soon" light was gone.
The second time the DRL - #194 amber bulbs were gone. Replaced these and the "service vehicle soon" light was gone after 2 starts. The DRLs are housed in the headlamp housing, the tiny bulbs beside the head light.

A bad headlight switch is a common problem with these cars. All of the power for the lights goes though this switch. You can try wiggeling the switch with the lights on, if they flash off and on as you move the switch the switch could be the problem.
SOURCE: Drl and high beams dont work
Check the bulbs -- the daytime running lamps use the highbeams on the resistor -- There are two filliments per bulb one high; one low. If both high beam filliments are out nothing will work....replace bulbs if this is the case.

I believe it's the following as I've seen this code on GM Vehicles.
B0502, B0503 for RH DRL Relay Circuit
B0507, B0508 for LH DRL Relay Circuit

SOURCE: i have no low beam headlights or daytime running
i had the same problem wit a 97 Sunfire GT. It was the light control switch on the steering whell column. i went to Advanced Auto for the part. I think it was around $35. The lights have worked perfect in all modes every since. hope this helps.
