i do feel you are being given a bit of the stuff that comes from bulls here, the odd bit of plastic entering the cylinders would only melt then burn away ,i had trucks **** the air filter in before now and only had to remove the inlet manifold to get teh last few bits out .No i would take it to another garage and get them to have a look ,i think it could be the erg valve and /or something in the inlet manifold blocking the air flow .

Testimonial: "thanx ZJ. :-) Yea I read about some similar situations online yesterday here and other places. I appreciate your opinion and believe your right. i got some block sealer and will carefully follow its instructions. The process is to warm the engine till the heater is blowing warm air with the heater all the way up Only problem is my heater doesnt blow warm air only cold to luke. so ill have to assume its warm over the coarse of a few minutes. then shut the engine off and drain the radiator. then fill it with water again and again till its clear water then drain it empty. then with three quarts of water mix the block seal and dump it in the radiator and turn the car on immeadiately then etc as the instructions say. If this works I just scored a nice car for $800 and my white smokd problem will be gone"

If it is a petrol engine, it could be the MAF (Mass Air Flow) is broken. A code reader will show this. If it is a diesel engine, it may be a burst intercooler or air hose to/from the intercooler
