Review your car's owner's manual to see if it has any tips on removing the current stereo. It may have a diagram of the wiring and the area where the stereo is installed.

  • 2 Disconnect the battery to avoid an electrical short while working with the wiring.
  • 3 Use a screwdriver to remove the retaining screws holding in your car stereo. Grab hold of the stereo and pull it toward you to remove it from the dashboard.
  • 4 Get a pair of DIN tools to slip on either side of the stereo, if the stereo connects to the dash using spring clips and bolts. These thin tools slide in easily, release the clips, and allow the stereo to come out easily. You may need to remove dash panels when bolts hold in the stereo. Take out the bolts and screws that hold the stereo in, and then simply pull it out.
  • 5 Look at the wires on the back of your car stereo. You should see 2 wires attached to the stereo. A wiring clip protects the stereo from vibrations and holds the wiring harness steady.
  • 6 Pry the wires up from the stereo and loosen them using a pulling/pushing motion. After working the wires back and forth, you should be able to pull the wires straight out.

Installing a car stereo on a 2008 dodge charger rt there is no power

    1. Check the wiring: Make sure that all the wires are properly connected to the stereo and to the car's electrical system. Look for loose, disconnected, or damaged wires and repair or replace them if necessary.
    2. Check the fuse: The car stereo may not be receiving power if the fuse that protects it has blown. Check the fuse panel in the car and replace any blown fuses.
    3. Check the battery: If the battery is dead, the car stereo won't receive power. Charge or replace the battery if needed.
    4. Check the ground wire: The ground wire is essential for the proper functioning of the car stereo. Make sure it's properly connected to a clean, unpainted metal surface in the car.
    5. Check the wiring harness: If the wiring harness is damaged or not properly connected, it may prevent the car stereo from receiving power. Replace the wiring harness if necessary.

How do you take of the dash paneling to install a new aftermarket cd player?

  • Disconnect the negative battery cable from the Jeep Cherokee battery with the 10 mm wrench.
  • 2 Remove the five screws on the top edge of the dash panel with a Phillips-head screwdriver.
  • 3 Pry the trim panels surrounding the climate control knobs away from the dashboard with the trim panel removal tool.
  • 4 Remove the trim panel that surrounds the headlamp switches (located to the left of the steering column) with a trim panel removal tool.
  • 5 Remove the two screws behind the trim panel that surrounds the headlamp controls with a Phillips-head screwdriver.
  • 6 Pull the dash panel that surrounds the stereo and covers the instrument panel of the Cherokee, away from the dashboard by hand.
  • 7 Remove the two screws from the stereo mounting bracket. One screw is on the bottom left corner, the other screw is on the top right corner. Each screw can be removed with the 10 mm socket and drive.
  • 8 Pull the factory stereo from the stereo mounting dock.
  • 9 Disconnect the stereo wiring from the back of the factory unit.
  • 10 Connect the Jeep Cherokee factory stereo wiring to a wiring harness adapter. Connect the wiring harness adapter leads to an aftermarket stereo. Slide the aftermarket stereo into the stereo mounting bracket and replaced two screws at the opposite corners with the 10 mm socket and drive.

Replacing my stereo harness? or getting it to fit my aftermarket

should go to any local junkyard to get the stock harness, or you can decipher and splice each vehicle wire to the appropriate wire on the stereo. If it was me, i'd go the junkyard route, much easier in the long run.

The lcd screen is craked on the car stereo. Is it possible to change the screen or does the whole radio need to be radio need to be replaced?

The lcd screen could be replaced, but it is a very technical job involving stripping down the stereo and a lot of fiddly soldering. And finding the correct screen out of another stereo. Much easier and probably cheaper (unless you can do it yourself) to replace the entire stereo.

    Pontiac 2002 stereo

your vehicles stereo is equipped with an antitheft system that render it inoperable once removed. If you are replacing with another ac delco make sure you have the code for that stereo. If you are replacing it with after market then find the section in your owners manual that tells you how to set the code, set it and write it down (maybe on the stereo) so you can sell it as those factory ac delco stereos are quite pricey
