SOURCE: 2004 nissan titan...ran out of gas

Good chance that even on 4 gallons it may not start I would try for more, prime the fuel pump several times by turning the key on and leaving it on for around 5 seconds then shutting it off and repeating, obviously not trying to start. I've had cases where even small FWD cars won't start even on 4 gallons on a 12 gallon tank. The newer fuel pumps are a closed system that only allow a small portion of fuel into the pump housing to keep contamination down. Let me know if after adding a few more gallons it won't start we will trouble shoot from there. Thank you for using fixya.com

SOURCE: Starving for fuel?

my car juzt recentl;y had the same problem.. i went through every fuel method possible.. the caddeltic converter... the fuel ignition... fuel pump.... fuel sensor...... it ended up being the fuel pump in the end but it could be any of these... the 300zx 88 has a recall for the fuel injectors from nissan. if ur car is elible you can take it to nissan for free to be fixed.. try to take it to a mechanic and have them put it onn the computer. like i said it could be many thing so no one can just know what it is from discription. have to get it checked out

Where is the TPS sensor located,2004 Nissan Titan 5.6 v-8

The 2004 nissan titan is drive by wire, meaning there is no cable to control the gas pedal to throttle.
This system is computer controlled with a motor at throttle body and pedal sensors.

the TPS throttle position sensor is located inside the throttlebody . on most of these the complete throttle body must be replaced as there is no sperate tps sensor it is complete,
i would check and make sure this is the problem . GM started making TPS replacement sensors for there throttle bodies.

How do you check to see if fuel pump went bad on 2004 Nissan Tita

Careful doing this. Disconnect the fuel filter line between the tank and the filter. Have a bucket or equivalent below to catch incomimg gasoline pouring out. Have some one turn the ignition key to on. Do Not Try and turn the key to START!! Just turn the key to the ON position. This will kick in the oil switch to feed gas to the engine for 5 seconds. If gas comes out the pump works. Reconnect the filter and try again. If no start is happening still disconnect the fuel filter's line towards the front of the engine this time. Turn the key ON. If gas comes out the filter is fine. If not the filter is clogged up fully
