SOURCE: 2001 Plymouth neon needs tensioner assembly

Most tensioners have a bolt on the other side of the twnsion pulley, if not you have to replace the tensioner with the base.

SOURCE: random misfire/rough idle/stall

Low fuel pressure due to faulty fuel pump will give misfire codes due to fuel starving conditions. Have fuel pressure tested, preferably when running bad.

SOURCE: 2000 neon check engine light is on

P1685 Skim Invalid Key.

The Sentry Key Immobilizer Module contains a Radio Frequency (RF) transceiver and a microprocessor. The SKIM transmits RF signals to, and receives RF signals from the Sentry Key transponder through a tuned antenna ring integral to the SKIM housing. When the ignition switch is turned to the On position, the SKIM transmits an RF signal to the transponder in the ignition key. The SKIM then waits for an RF signal response from the transponder. If the response received identifies the key as valid, the SKIM sends a valid key message to the PCM over the PCI data bus. If the response received identifies the key as invalid, or if no response is received from the key transponder, the SKIM sends an invalid key message to the PCM. The PCM will enable or disable engine operation based upon the status of the SKIM messages.

SOURCE: 1999 plynouth grand voyager was coding egr replace

just because the check engine light is back on, it doesn't necessarily mean it is for the same problem. it could be, but would need to pull codes again to find out what its for. literally hundreds of different codes could turn on check engine light. also, was original code for "insufficient egr flow" or "excessive egr flow"? it makes a difference.

2001 buick century P0304 step on gas engine light starts flashing

P0304 is engine misfire #4 cylinder Several things can cause a misfire #1 electrical which you have covered #2 Mechanical Test engine compression is should be around 150 cranking and 120 running . internal valve train components can cause bad compression and the valves then self. #3 fuel injector can be the cause suggest swapping with a know good cylinder and see if misfire follows injector.

My 1998 plymouth neon has a number 4 cylinder misfire. changed plugs, wires, coil pack. still misfires. does it at slow speeds and really bad when trying to get up to speed when entering the highway....

CHECK FUEL INJECTOR WIRING TO NUMBER 4 INJECTOR,HOOK A TEST LIGHT TO MAKE SURE IT BLINKS WHILE ENGINE RUNNING.THAT WAY YOU WILL KNOW IF PCM FIRING THE FUEL INJECTOR OR FAULT AT THE INJECTOR WIRING OR YOU HAVE INTAKE LEAK LOW COMPRESSION TO THAT CYLINDER BECAUSE OF BAD BURNED OUT VALVE.COMPRESSION TEST TO THAT CYLINDER CAN ALSO HELP.LOOK FOR LOOSE OR WORN DAMAGE ROCKER ARMS IF YOU HAVE A SOHC SINGLE OVER HEAD CAM ENGINE.

I have a 2005 F150, that has been running a little rough and the check engine light came on. Checked the code and it read 0305. I'm not sure what I should do next.

trouble code 0305 is for cylinder misfire. misfire code for cylinder #5 which is what a P0305 code represents. There will have leaking valve cover gaskets allowing oil to contact the boots of the ignition wires and short the high voltage to ground causing the misfire.in this case check whether plug wires, sparkplugs and valve cover gaskets are in good shape .this will help you to determine the cause of your check engine light on. This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya

Misfire Code/Check Engine Light. Many Repairs,Cant Clear the code

My guess on this is gonna be a cracked ignition coil. Have it tested by someone. It is very common for these coils to crack and cause a misfire.

Valve Cover Gasket

the oil was the cause of the misfire, the oil swells the rubber on the plug boots and interferes with the electrical connection from the wire to the plug. when you replace the gasket, remover the plug wires, marking which one went where, and use a spray electrical cleaner to remove the oil. make sure the rubber on the new wires isn't already swelled. before removing the plugs or valve cover, spray brake cleaner down in the holes and use compressed air or shop rags to get the hole shiny clean before removing plugs. remove plugs and clean them too. then reinstall plugs and remove valve cover. when replacing any gasket, use a razor blade on to clean the surfaces well. you can even spray a shop rag with brake clean and wipe it to make sure its clean. clean is important. reinstall cover with new gasket in place and torque bolts... be careful not to overdo it, they are small bolts and overtightening can flatten out gasket and cause more leaks. then just reinstall plug wires and off you go

My 2002 dodge neon has check engine light with coded p0302. I know to try replacing the plug/wires, are there any other common causes for this error code that I should check out?

Hi! When replacing the plugs and wires on this model be sure there is no oil in spark plug wells. You will notice the oil on the plug wire boot when removing it. If there is any oil on any of the boots the valve cover gasket and spark plug tube seals will need to be replaced or the misfire code you mentioned will return. Hope this information helps!

New valve cover gaskets, plugs, and wire result in engine light...

if you removed spark plugs with oil around them, oil would have got into cylinders and made new plugs wet and not fire properly..it just burnt off oil and started working ok..it set a misfire code because of this most likely
