sound like you have a fuel pump going bad in the tank.
SOURCE: Fuel pressure intermittently drops causing sputter and die.
check for 12v constant at your fuel pump if you are not getting that replace your relay.
if you are getting 12 volts at your fuel pump the fuel pump is possible to run tuel it gets warm then shut down to a lower rpm I would then replace the fuel pump

SOURCE: how do i change the fuel pump on my 88 dodge
all you need to do is put a jack under the tank to hold it up. remove the connector to pump, then remove the fuel line at tank going to pump.caution there may be a little fuel preasure in line, use safety glasses. next is to loosen tank straps, then drop tank a little, remove the lock ring that holds the pump in tank. use a chiesel and hammer. tap ring counter clockwise to loosen. remove the ring and pull pump out if tank needs to be lowered a little more then lower accordingly.tank doesnt need to be removed.

Check the wires going to the coil and make sure they are snug. Check plugs and wires. Not sure if this car has an Ignition control module but if it does it could be the problem.
