This model is not equipt with a mass air sensor like other later model fords, it has a PCV valve (or air relief valve as mentioned below) on the left valve cover that seems to be working fine. No known vacum leaks I can find. The only info I can offer that may have relevance is the back story as to when this problem begain. It sat fore a week while I was on a trip, I came back to find my battery was dead (no longer chargeable) and alternator was fried out, I beleived the alternator shorted out internaly some how. Both of these parts were no more than two years old, so I put a good battery in it and drove it home with no problems using the battery for ignition power. I then replaced the alternator and battery cables thinking all was fine, the next time I tried to drive it the problems started. If I can answer any questions you may have to help troubleshoot this thing, feel free to ask. I appreciate the suggested solutions sofar but still looking for the answers. Thanks guys!

Well code 77 is nothing - you are supposed to hit the brake pedal and the gas pedal during the KOEO test. Code 77 is no movement of the gas pedal.
I guess I would start with the statement about driving it home with no problems on the battery, but problems after the alternator was installed.
Have you checked the charging system to see if it is charging around 14 volts ? It could be overcharging which would cause electrical problems.
Unless you can figure out what changed when you replaced the alternator, you will have to find out if you are dealing with a fuel problem or ignition to proceed with any troubleshooting.
Ford products are famous for ground problems. You might recheck the ground connections, especially in the engine compartment.

Thanks Stephen, I was thinking the same thing when all this started. I was crunched for time and thought the new battery cables couldn't be at fault but I did configure them a little differently than the factory did so I will have a look at that and see if I am getting to much voltage. Mite be a day or so but I will get back to you, thanks for the input.

SOURCE: no power to fuel pump

check the tan- lt green wire on the fuel relay that is located on the right fender, mine wasn't pushed in all the way, this wire shut down injectors and fuel pump, if you are looking for the shut off switch to reset the relay, it is on the passagers side floor board under the dash, gas two wires, orange and pink, I don't remember the color of the stripes, I removed this switch and wired them together without a problem

88 bronco. runs fine untill it warms up then loses most power

Sound like an ignition issue. The hotter temps are causing a part to fail.If you've never replaced the ignition coil, this is the easiest place to start.Another possibilty would be the pickup in the distributor,or the reluctor on the distributor shaft.
