Have your vacuum booster checked for leaking, sometimes the one way valve that holds vacuum in the booster fails, It is in the hose going to the booster from motor.
air pressure sound may come from a leaky vacuum hose or bad check valve at the booster or master cylinder.
But, I think that it's normal to hear a soft hissing sound when depressing the brake pedal which comes from hydraulic fluid going through the passage ways.
Vacuum from the engine is supplied to the booster, and vented if the brakes are not being applied.
When you step on the pedal, the movement of the pedal blocks the vents, allowing the vacuum to build up. That vacuum then pulls on a diaphragm, assisting you in applying the brakes.
Most people can’t hear that venting, some can.
You should, of course, have it checked out, but it sounds as if this might be normal operation.
The booster is bolted to the firewall, and then the brake master cylinder is bolted to the forward side of the booster.
To replace it you disconnect the brake pedal, remove the master cylinder, take the vacuum line off the booster, unbolt it from the firewall.
Install the new booster by reversing these steps.
But I don't think you need one, from what you say.
This one I can be fairly certain of. It sounds like a rip in the vacuum power brake booster diaphram. Usually you just replace the whole power brake chamber, which includes the diaphram. You have to first remove the 2 bolts holding the master cylinder to the larger booster chamber, but you don't normally have to open any brake lines. When replacing, make sure the brake pedal rod goes down the center of the new booster, and that there is sufficient clearance or freeplay in the pedal rod when done. (like .1" is all you need) Should not have to bleed after done.
That sound you hear is coming from the Vauum Brake Booster...Sooner or later the Brake Pedal will get hard, because the seal inside of the Brake Booster is leaking..And the only way to repair it, is , to replace the Brake Booster...But also check your Vacuum Hose that is instaaled on your Brake Booster..It goes from the Brake Booster, which is behind the Master Cylinder...From there to the Intake Manifold...Just make sure that there are no cracks in that hose, and make sure it is on all the way...because if the hose is bad, then thats all you will have to replace....Goodluck...
i'm not entirely sure on this but it sounds like the assist is not working, i think it works with the power steering , so check htat level, and the belts, i hope this helps
sounds like the brake booster is going bad, its loseing vaccum,booster needs replacing,when leak gets big enough brake pedal will be real hard to push, hope this helps,
Sounds like your power booster is bad. You are hearing a vacuum leak on the booster when you push the brake. It will also be accompanied by a harder than normal pedal.
