Check whether the COIL WORKS, and also CHECK or replace the CAPACITOR next to the coil----it's cheap.

Testimonial: "i am thinking that it is the capacitor ty"

  • shawn feather Sep 20, 2012

i have already replace coil but i cant find a capacitor

  • Anonymous Sep 20, 2012

If you can't find a capicitor for your Vette in a local store, try checking ONLINE, and have the make, model and year of your Vette ready to get the correct capacitor for your coil. Hope that solves the problem !

1979 Corvette no spark to plugs, new coil, ignition module, cap, rotor, plugs and wires... was running before tune up

Have you ever heard of the "mechanics rule" that says if it ain't broke don't fix it? Put the old coil and module back in they're not part of a tuneup because they can last for the life of the vehicle or not lol. I hope this helps. Take Care.

I have a 1989 mitsubishi eclipse USA import can't get spark to the spark plugs replaced coil which is in distributor and replaced the distributor still no spark can anyone help ?

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with your 1989 Mitsubishi Eclipse. Here are a few things that you can check to try to get spark to the spark plugs: Check the spark plug wires: The spark plug wires can become damaged over time, which can prevent spark from reaching the spark plugs. Inspect the spark plug wires for any cracks or breaks. If you find any damage, replace the spark plug wires. Check the spark plugs: The spark plugs can also become fouled or damaged over time, which can prevent spark from reaching the spark plugs. Remove the spark plugs and inspect them for any damage. If you find any damage, replace the spark plugs. Check the ignition coil: The ignition coil is responsible for generating the spark that ignites the fuel in the engine. If the ignition coil is faulty, it can prevent spark from reaching the spark plugs. Inspect the ignition coil for any damage or signs of wear. If you find any damage, replace the ignition coil. Check the distributor cap and rotor: The distributor cap and rotor are responsible for distributing the spark from the ignition coil to the spark plugs. If the distributor cap or rotor is faulty, it can prevent spark from reaching the spark plugs. Inspect the distributor cap and rotor for any damage or signs of wear. If you find any damage, replace the distributor cap and rotor. If you have checked all of these things and you are still not getting spark to the spark plugs, it is possible that there is a problem with the engine's computer. In this case, it is best to take the vehicle to a qualified mechanic for diagnosis and repair. Here are some tips to help prevent these problems from happening in the future: Change your spark plugs and spark plug wires according to the manufacturer's recommendations. Keep your engine clean and well-maintained. Avoid running your vehicle on low fuel. If you notice any problems with your vehicle's performance, have it checked out by a qualified mechanic as soon as possible.

Why won't 89 Chevy Silverado 1500 5.7 STILL not start. New battery,coil,spark plugs,wires,inline filter,distributor,cap,rotor,fuel pump,starter relay.

What's missing ? Fuel ,spark , compression ? How many miles on the vehicle ? Does it have spark , pull a plug wire while cranking an hold it near a good ground . Put a fuel pressure gauge on the vehicle , is there fuel pressure ? Do a compression test , 150 psi . engine mechanical problem . timing chain .

I have a 1989 corvette with greenwood package that cranks for about 50 seconds before it will fire, runs at a ruff idle, and after it is hot and running for awhile it will shut off and be really hard to...

The only part that would come to mind after all of this would be the fuel pump relay. This is located on the fire wall on the drivers side of the car. When that goes bad it does not allow for adequate fuel to cycle through. The other thing would be timing. You need fuel air and spark for the vehicle to fire. After all the test and after replacing the fuel pump relay. I would do a compression and a leak down test. Are you sure that the timing did not jump a gear? You can also look and test the IAC (Idle Air Control) or the MAF (Mass Air Flow Sensor). Also do a test to check fuel pressure. The last Corvette that I worked on personally that had this issue it turned out to be the Fuel Pump Relay. Good luck let me know if you have any further questions.

I HAVE A 1988 CHEVY VAN G20 5.7 I CHECKED TIMEING CHAIN NEW PLUGS,PLUG WIRES,DIST CAP, ROTOR,COIL,FLUSHED FUEL TANK,NEW FUEL PUMP AND FILTER I HAVE GOOD FUEL PRESSURE,GOOD COMPRESSION,THE PROBLEM IS SPARK,...

1/ Have you fitted the spark plug leads in the proper firing order.
2/ Look inside the top of distributor Top (this is not the first time a new distributer cap has very small crack) or the rotor arm is fitting the cap properly. Hope this helps Best Wishes, Malcolm Campbell.

Van will not start I have fuel pressure and when cranking it builds oil pressure where do i go from here

Check for spark at the spark plugs. If no spark, remove distributor cap and inspect the inside of the cap and the rotor for obvious signs of wear or damage. Check for spark at the coil wire by removing the coil wire from the center of the distibutor cap, and, holding the end of it close to the engine block, have someone crank the engine. There should be a very strong spark. If there was spark at the coil but not at the plugs, replace the distributor cap and rotor. If there is no spark at the coil, you either have no power or ground at the coil, or the coil is bad. With the ignition ON, there should be 12v at the red wire for the ignition coil. if not, check the fuses. Check for the pulsing ground signal of the ignition coil at the other wire ( I think a white wire) using a test light clipped to battery + while the engine is being cranked. If there is no light, the problem is likely the ignition module or pick-up coil, which is located in the distributor. Make sure that the wiring and connections are in good shape for these items before condemning them.
Pick-up coil should have about 1500 ω of resistance.
Good Luck
