coathanger job ,or put some jumper leads one to the chassis and the positive to the starter motor terminal feed ,something clicks here ??but my memory has faded a bit ,iam sure that somewhere on the rear of the vehicle is a connection for a power supply to work the locks to open the vehicle or evan charge the battery .Cant recall properly but i think i pulled a cover off a light or something then put a 12v supply to open the vehicle
SOURCE: I have a coolant leak on my 2000 BMW 528i and now it overheating.
Pressure test cooling system to determine origin of leak. Radiator and coolant reservoirs are common problems. Vehicle is very difficult to purge air from cooling system and may take multiple times of idling until thermostat opens. Sometimes help to rev engine to about 2500 rpm 5-8 times to help build heat and move coolant through system. Must have heater on while performing this task.

A ignition is in two parts, where you put the key to turn it and a second part that is the ignition itself. Between the two parts there is a small flat pin or bar. This is where your problem is, the pin/bar is broken. You will have to replace the ignition to solve the problem.

If your talking about what would a dealership change, it generally consists of a tune up, including spark plugs, plug wires, air filter, oil change, pcv valve, and fuel filter. Thats also usually when they want to replace the timing belts. There may be one or two other things specific to BMW, but generally thats what you can expect.
