Code is reading p1491 want reset what to do.no leaks new spark plugs cleaned everthing drove 150 miles to reset computer still reading code.what next
Code P1491 in Honda/Acura vehicles means insufficient EGR valve lift. Note - this is not the same as 0401 for EGR low flow when you have to clean EGR passage in the intake manifold. If code 1491 is not accompanied with 0401 - that could be faulty EGR valve itself. Try to reset the code, and if it will return soon - replace EGR valve. If, however you see both codes together - cleane the manifold passage before you replacing the valve.
Unhook the battery for about half an hour.
SOURCE: #5 cylinder misfire
I have a corolla and had #4 cylinder misfire also diagnosed at autozone. After changing the spark plugs, problem persisted, along with the same error code, so they recommended changing the spark plug wires, and that is what fixed it. I would have changed the rotor cap too, but was low on dough. Glad that was not the problem.

Hey Dan, It cannot hurt to change the Plugs and wires. Make sure and Check all the Fuses and Relays also. Sometimes the Realays can blow or just get old and send a Code also.

I just had the same thing happen to my 99 RX300. I replaced the MAF sensor and cleaned the throttle body. We cleared the codes and check engine light came on again... with a knock sensor code. Had to replace knock sensors. Found some great info on how to do that here. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=41266&mode=threaded Car drives great now!
