My 1993 honda prelude was recently stolen, and it has some issues

Apparently the people that stole my car gave it a rough time. They stole my sound system and my battery and left it abandoned.

when i got it home i had to buy new spark wires because they also stole them. i had a hard time starting it, and the car was shaky. i thought that changing the actual spark plugs would help. I did, and it did help, but the engine is still shaky, and sounds weird.

Since i havent taken my car for a test ride i dont really know how it behaves if i drive it, what i do know is that the no lights on my dashborad are on, and all of them work. Any ideas?

i checked the order, and i had 1 plug wire out of place. I can see a slight improvement, but still my engine isnt running like it used to. I havent taken it to a mechanic or anything, i just wanted to see if i could solve it myself with the assistance of others. seems like im gonna have to pay some bucks after all. thanks for the help. Any other responses would b helpful :)

Hi,

hummm, lets see here. you had plug wires stolen and you put new ones back on the vehicle. sounds like you may have gotten the firing order out of place. for a 4cyl the firing order will be 1-3-4-2. so as you look at the distrubutor, # 1 cyl should be going to the plug closest to the drive belts. and then 2 next and so on....

the way to tell where #1 cyl on distrubutor is.. "bump" over the starter until you see a white mark on the belt pulley line up with the marker on the timing belt cover. when you get that done. remove the distrubutor cap and look at which plug wire i's pointing to... it should be #1.... if not you have a firing order problem, (check all other wire orders... ) start with that plug wire being # one and then next (don't remember which way this engine goes clockwise or counter clockwise) but make sure the next in line is 3, and then 4, and then 2..... got it? ...... good luck and hope this helped.

1993 honda prelude starts fine in dry weather but in wet weather it just cranks.

Sounds like moisture in the distributor cap to me. I would definitely start there first.

I have a 1994 Honda Prelude Si non v-tech i recently changed distributor and spark plugs. Before i changed sparks car was running rough it had a lag to take off and sometimes lost power while at around...

Sounds like the catalitic converter/s are clogged up. This would cause low air flow and low compression. I've seen them so bad that they dropped the compression down to 60 lbs.

Best would be to check the oil pump filter in the sump of the engine. these also clog up and drops the oil pressure resulting in a warning light
