SOURCE: Chevy l989 4X4 5 speed manual clutch not working

Almost every time a clutch is replaced in a GM with hydraulic release system that system is replaced as well. You can try, and try, and try again to bleed it, but you will eventually replace the clutch slave and master cylinders. Once the slave is allowed to fully extend, it is then virtually impossible to make it function correctly again.

Adjusting a clutch on 93 nissan pu

You can't adjust the clutch, your problem may be the slave cylinder. It is connected to the side of the transmission, first check your clutch master cylinder under hood on right side by firewall,if low, then slave cylinder is leaking and needs to be replaced, easy to remove, part is 17.99.I have a 85 Nissan truck, had her for 25 years, replaced mine a few times, use brake fluid.Get a 9.00 beeder kit at Autozone too. Here's a link on how to do and the bleeder kit...https://www.autozone.com/repairinfo/repairguide/repairGuideContent.jsp?pageId=0900c1528018d42a the bleeder kit.https://www.autozone.com/test-scan-and-specialty-tools/brake-bleeder/oemtools-one-man-brake-bleeder-kit/46839_0_0 Here's the slave cylinder.https://www.autozone.com/drivetrain/clutch-slave-cylinder/duralast-clutch-master-cylinder-12425/69758_1035179_0_238602

I have a 2002 VW turboS and the clutch is suddenly just off the floor. It was pretty high before today.

might have something to do with your slave cylinder, or you master cylinder. If it is the slave you might as well buy a whole new clutch since you have to remove the whole trans to change it.

I have a 98 Tacoma 4x4 with a 5 speed manual transmission. When I go to shift, it wants to keep going instead of disengaging the clutch. Could this mean the clutch needs to be replaced or is it something...

Hi Vicki, got me a 85 nissan 4x4,the silver one. Here's a link to the slave cylinder removal guide, here's what it looks like.First go check your clutch master cylinders fluid,if real low or empty, then your slave cylinder is bad and leaking,it's located on the side of your transmission,2 bolts hold it on with a fluid line.Very easy to replace and bleed,if the fluid is full then it may be clutch problems.

The hose that goes to my resevoir cracked when the weather got really cold. I am almost certain air found its way into the system as the end result. All I need to know is where the bleeder is located on...

You have air in the clutch slave cylinder . As old as it is I suspect you now have a bad master cylinder.

Why? Because over-stroking the pedal when low on fluid tends to **** in all the dirt that accumulates in the bottom of the system and damages the hardened old seals.

The clutch slave cylinder is on top of the bell housing and it has a 7mm across it's flats, bleed nipple.

This is a two man job without a pressure bleeder. Have someone press clutch down and you open slave bleeder, close bleeder and lift up pedal slowly.

Repeat, topping of the fluid reservoir, until firm pedal.

The brake reservoir also supplies fluid to the clutch. If the fluid gets low or clutch leaks, the reservoir is so designed to still allow fluid for the brake system.

85 hilux 4x4 have no clutch when checking found fluid leaking from rubber boot at the arm pretruding from gear box how do you repair this? cheers roger

bad slave cylinder possible. may even be a bad clutch master cylinder.was leaking from firewall? not bad clutch mastercylinder. was leaking under car on passenger side at front of tranny, but in between motor and tranny where motor bolts to transmission? most likely, bad clutch slave cylinder. having to add brake fluid to clutch master cylinder? having to pump the clutch pedal up to shift gears? either you have a bad clutch slave cylinder[leaking under the car between motor and tranmission] or leaking on firewall [the wall that under dash and under the front window] you may even need a clutch replacement.3 if you need further assistment, repost your question to fixya.com

Leaking clutch 85 s10 blazer when I bleed the slave cylinder oil leaks out the bell housing

First, unless you have just done some clutch work you should not need to be bleeding the clutch hydraulic system...that shows that it's leaking. There is nothing inside the bellhousing that has anything to do with clutch fluid, so, the fluid you see is either engine or transmission oil (rear main seal or seal on trans input shaft) Could it be that the clutch slave is leaking and it's running down and dripping at the bottom of the housing? (clean it up and check that)
