If the headlights work, I would check for voltage at the key switch and the major fuses.
If nothing works, I would start at the battery and work toward the fuse boxes. Could be a bad ground connection too.

Sorry for the delayed response and thank you for your input. The battery was fine, I found one bad fuse but not sure if this was the main reason the 2003 ford explorer may have shut off while driving (on a raining night). In any case, I continue checking, ignition switch, starter, and found the Emergency Automatic Fuel shut off may have been activated that evening while driving through any pot holes during a stormy raining night. I proceeded to clean battery terminals and connected to battery. I then press the red button to reset the emergency automatic shut off located on the front passeger side, behind the side panel. The vehicle cranked and started. I went ahead and added fuel injector cleaner and gas line antifreeze, to remove any condensation / water from the fuel system. Again thank you much!

I've been experiencing trouple with fuse #41 HEGO, VMV, CMS, PTEC keeps blowing out. Any suggestions to correct this problem. I understand there may be a short, but not sure where to begin. Currently the 2003 ford exploreris running since I fuse #41, but it's a matter of tim,e for it to go out again.

That fuse covers the computer, the heated O2 sensors, and the evap controls for the gas tank vent. You may have to get a shop manual to have the wiring diagrams you'll need to troubleshoot those circuits. Loosing power to the PCM would kill the engine.

You mean that the starter is turning (cranks) the engine but the engine won't start? Be sure it is getting fuel. Turn the key to the on position and you should hear the fuel pump in the fuel tank run for a few seconds. If so that is good. If the fuel is being delivered then possibly you have no spark which usually is the electronic ignition module. The only way to test it is to replace it. Your timing chain or belt could be broken or "jumped" as the third possibility. I am leaning toward ignition module being bad as they just die without warning and nothing can revive them.

Check your fuel pump pressure- sounds like the pump is on its last legs.

1998 ford explorer won't start. driving down the road and it quit running.

Hello, This problem could be from the Inertia sensor. There is a Reset button either behind a plastic panel in the rear cargo area or under the dash by the kickpanels. The part is suppose to disconnect the fuel pump in case of a crash. A small bump will sometimes trip it.
If you have any Starting fluid, you can test whether this is a fuel source problem. Or listen to the vehicle when you turn on the key, the fuelpump should run briefly. If you do not hear anything, then the fuelpump may be shut off.

2003 Ford Explorer.....door adjar light won't go off, dome lights stays on unless manually turned off, key in ignation creates a dinging noise.

try spraying the latch mechanism with a spray lubricant and open/close the door many times-the sensor is on the door latch (not the 'button") and it is a common problem on fords as the get older. do both doors, spray heavily, and open/close at least a dozen times or more.
