It needs to be pressure bled, you can open the bleeder valve on the slave and remove the cap and push and hold the pedal down once, if it allows fluid to flow threw the bleeder port let it bleed about a pint of fluid to completely rid system with air. Remove the hose off the master clutch assembly and have someone press down on the clutch pedal to see it the master cylinder is pressurizing, if it does reconnect and keep trying. If not remove master and use a screwdriver to push piston on the master to see if fluid comes out. If it does not pressurize you have a bad master. this is a common problem. Also you could have a bad master cylinder or slave so start the procedure above and if it does not pressurize up pull slave off the truck and have it tested.

2004 dodge ram 1500 with the 3.7L V6 5 speed manual. The truck drives and shifts fine but after driving for a while it won't be able to shift into or out of any gear.

the reason for hard shifting and selection when running is that the clutch shaft ( input shaft) is still turning even though the clutch pressure plate is released
it can be from oil/grease on the fly wheel /pressure plate face causing it to stick when hot
it may be from sticking clutch plate on the splines binding when hot
or it could be a dry spigot bush or failed bearing in the end of the crankshaft that positions the clutch shaft
check the pedal height adjustment and the position it is from the floor when starting to engage
It may be adjustment under the dash

1998 Ford Escort ZX2 Clutch replacement

Clutch life depends entirely on how the clutch has been treated. If it hasn't been driven abusively, it could conceivably last the life of the car. To try it out, put it in top gear around 30mph and floor the gas. If the clutch is going to slip anywhere, it's here. If the car gains speed without the RPM shooting up, the clutch is fine and you should have no worries about her making it safely across the country.

When driving 65 or above car loses power, turn off ignition and restart runs fine for a couple of miles then same thing. Runs great around town (car is not getting hot)

I would first scan computer to see if there are any stored codes, as these codes can help in pin pointing problem, i would start by checking fuel preasure but this has to be done when power loss starts, if preasure is good then i would check for a bad ignition coil, you may need to replace to test this one.

A/C blows hot air going uphill or pulling a trailer.

you will need to change the clutch fan, under load or high speed will heat up the engine and the clutch fan should ingage to pull more are through the radiator. Also at idle with no air moving through that radiator the clutch should ingage to pull air through.

Code p0741

Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) Stuck Off.

You may have a faulty TCC solenoid valve.

Simply means the clutch in the torque converter does not engage when you reach cruising speed and will effect overall fuel economy.
Requires workshop/dealer repair.

Over-revving in 5th at 75mph all of a sudden

If the car rev'd up but did not speed up at the same time the clutch is starting to slip. Check the adjustment and recheck driving. When the clutch starts to wear this is how they act, only most people ignore whats happening and keep driving till adjustments won't fix it and the clutch has to be replaced. Have adjustment checked and keep an eye on it and hopefullty you won't need a clutch yet.

Power clutch vs. regular clutch for '89 civic

Not unless you are going to be towing or hauling a large load. Lots of driving does not mean lots of shifting. Do you do most of it on the highway or dozens of short hops around town? Are you the original owner of this Civic or did someone else put miles on it before you bought it? If it lasted 20 years without wearing out, a heavy duty clutch probably isn't needed.

If you shift a lot with a heavy foot on the gas, a heavier clutch might do you some good but if you are a normal driver who puts lots of miles between up and down shifting, stick with a standard clutch.

I have replaced the thermostat and clutch fan on 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 (6-speed). running around town and sitting in traffic w/ air on it does not get hot, guage at "half mast". Running 75mph in 6th gear on...

Did You Replace the (FAN CLUTCH) or just the FAN ? Sounds Like FAN CLUTCH Problem, os long as Coolant Level is FULL , There ALSO May be An OBSTRUCTION in RADIATOR , Check in Front of Radiator for Debris and CLEAR ANY that May be There.
