Tried higher octane gas, octane booster, replaced plugs and wires, and have added fuel treatment but still makes noises
The 2000 ford Mustang has a factory defect. there is a missing Baffle in the Valve cover which is allowing oil to be sucked in to the combustion chamber through the PCV valve. the Fix is to install a filter or to install the new valve covers you will need to buy through your local ford dealer.
Have you checked to see if the parts store lists a knock sensor for your vehicle?
If it has an anti-knock sensor, and it is faulty, the engine will ping like it's running low octane fuel. The anti-knock sensor, detects that, and sends message to computer, to adjust timing as required to eliminate it. That is the type of noise your describing isn't it?. One other thing that comes to mind is possibly the timing chain rattling. What's the mileage & do you know how to check for chain slop?
Diagnostics for slipping? O.k. now I'm lost ! Posting says motor rattling noise, tried higher octane etc, I thought you were getting spark knock, timing ping, or similar ?
O.K. now I'm back with ya'. Trying to do too many things at once I guess, it blew right over my head. Yes chain could have jumped a couple of teeth. Have you taken spark plugs out & have a good look at them? No codes for EGR came up neither? Compression test?
If you turn crankshaft, either with socket on pulley bolt, or just by grabbing pulley, and turn it back & forth, you'll feel it kind of sloppy then tight. The slop you feel between one way & the other is timing chain slop.
Does it seem to run a little hotter since this all started? Have you tried combustion chamber cleaner through it yet? All things to think about before deciding to tear into it.

what will that help with and no not yet but i will def. look into that
170k no i dont know how to check for slop. i hooked up an obd scanner to it to check diagnostics for the slipping and didnt not come up with anything. everything is computerixed w? this car. a couple months ago i came around a turn a little to quick and did a complete 360. after that is when the noise started. i ended up backwards on the side of the road an the car shut off. would that have anything to do with it
yes you are right. but if the car slipped out of time wouldnt that create the ping noise also.
