My 1994 el dorado sometimes shuts off when on or dont turn on. i was told it needs a sensor but dont know the name of it...help!
YOU MAY NEED TO CHECK AND FIND FEW THINGS.
ONCE YOU GET THE CORRECT SWITCH, AND OR SENSOR, YOU'LL BE HAPPY.
Test the coil packs and crankshaft position sensor
P032 (E032) ................................................. Open MAP Sensor Signal
P109 (E109) ....... Keep Alive Memory (KAM) Reset/PCM has lost primary battery power
I052 ....................................................... Keep Alive Memory Error
A011 .......................................... High Side Temperature Sensor Circuit
T083 ......................................................... Brake Fluid Level LowSIR Codes
ok, the map sensor is on the top of the throttle plates, its a little black rectaingle about an 1 1/2 long, easy to get to and cheap, the p109 and IO 52 is you disconnected the battery, also the IO 52 could be a relay thats under the hood, does your raido turn off when you open the door? ( ck: get in car close the doors and start car, turn on radio, turn off car pull out the key and radio should stay on, open door and radio should shut off, relay is good if this happends
as far as the AO 11 does or did your AC work?
the RSS module is either under the drivers seat, ( you cut a wire ) or in the trunk behind the back seat, there is a panel back there thats velcroed on just pull it down, ( a relay is needed for that repair ) there is also a fuse box back there ck thoes fuses

SOURCE: starter disabled due to theft system
the wire that goes to the ignition to the anti theft device is probably broken if you call a good locksmith they can go in through the steering column and fix it same thing happened to my 95 eldorado apparently cadillac designed the anti theft system to coincide with the ignition and is connected to the ignition with two wires that turn as the key is turned the wires twist and eventually they wear out
SOURCE: oil loss and code 1806 on my 2001 cadillac el dorado
i believe what you mean is a P1860 code? There is no P1806. The code is for a torque converter clutch pulse width solenoid, which is an internal electrical part of the transmission, it is a pretty labor intensive job, and you could actually end up needing a full transmission. that and the oil pan gasket could lead to a heafty bill, if its worth it to fix is up to your and your financial situation really, ask yourself if you can buy a different car with the money that you are quoted for the work.
SOURCE: Starter for 94 Cadillac El Dorado, I think.
I don't think you need a battery. Check the battery terminals for corrosion and make sure that they are snug. The clicking sound you hear is the lack of voltage going to the starter solenoid. This could be attributed to a poor connection of a wire, or a starter relay in the fuse panel. There are no special tools required to remove the starter but you can have it bench tested at any Advanced Auto Parts free of charge. Good luck
